Perhaps there should be a load of multiple choice questions on the ballot paper.

You answer the questions when you make your vote at the polling booth. Your paper is marked and you get one vote for each correct answer.

Say you get seven correct answers and you vote SNP, the SNP candidate receives seven votes. If you fail to get any correct the candidate receives f**k all.

It's a stupid idea but can't be any worse than the system we have at present.

I wonder if there is something in this.  If you don't know how the voting system works or who the candidates are and what they stand for, should you really be voting?  That's one of the reasons I oppose compulsory voting - the ignorant by and large, stay out of it and maybe that's not a bad thing.
