Ashfield F.C. - 2017-18

Recommended Posts

You would need a computer with a cinemascope screen (remember that) to read this report. However well done by Ashfield in getting  such a great result. A club with a great history, love to see them back in the top divisions.

Many thanks for the comment. The Website is better viewed on PC compared to Phone unless you click to bottom of page and hit `Full Website`.  The Central League Division 2 is a tough League to get out of with most of the Teams improving year on year. We have a good team this year but need to be more consistent.

Hi Guys, Saw the pictures on the Tigers Facebook of the work beginnning at the park and was wondering how it affects you guys for the rest of the season?

Crikey, those photos worry me too !

https://www.glasgowtigers.co/tigers-track-new-race-circuit/

SERIOUSLY cutting into the grass interior to widen the track ahead of the start of the speedway season - first home meeting 1st March.

Ashfield's home fixture on Saturday (13th Jan) v Newmains has been moved to a caged astro on the northern edge of Bellahouston Park, so just across the motorway from Ibrox - The Palace of Art, 1152 Paisley Road West, Glasgow G52 1EQ - ko 1.45pm.

Presumably other Ashfield home games before 1st March will also have to be played elsewhere ? :

Sat 27 Jan v Royal Albert

Sat 17 Feb v Vale Of Clyde

As with the Newmains fixture, the reverse of those two have already been played, so they couldn't just be 'switched'.

But far more worrying is whether that track widening will leave enough width for a pitch at all.

Is anybody from the club able to comment on here regarding :

1) where the other two games might go to?  - also to The Palace Of Art ?

2) have the speedway lot given any assurances that there will still be room for a fitba pitch ?

All the best.

Cheers for the post. We have been advised that this should only affect the Newmains Game and should be OK for the remainder of the Season. Indeed the Park is being brought in slightly and will be the same dimensions as Cowdenbeath who operate the Stock Car Racing. Although not ideal we have to work with it.

Many thanks for the post LeedsPhil. Indeed not ideal however the park will be brought in within appropriate guidelines and pitch will be similar to that of Cowdenbeath who operate similarly but with Stock Car Racing. We have been assured that this should only affect the Newmains Utd game and all future games will be back at Saracen.

Got to say that the current Ashfield Team is evolving into a very good team indeed and since the 6-1 victory in Aberdeen in the Junior Cup the team have been galvanised and today`s result was the 2nd biggest victory in the Clubs`s history. The standard in the Central Div 2 has been very high this year and it is going to be a real `bun fight` to see who gets promotion.

Joel has had 2 great games since joining, especially last Saturday against Carluke Rovers where he scored one and made two. Yesterday`s game was slightly different but he holds the ball up extremely well. He had to come unfortunately with a possible hamstring problem but hopeful of having him back next week for the Vale of Leven Match.
