He isn't. They don't seem to understand that the Man Utd player who slid behind the goal line is still on the pitch. He is considered to be on the line as no player can leave or return to the pitch without the refs permission, so the Man U player is still on the pitch.Seems some of the players don't understand it either, but thankfully the linesman did.If that law didn't exist, then a tardy full back (for example) could simply step off the pitch to make someone offside.
