The favourite won against an injured player in the final, the two most recent winners both went out due to injuries, the other good player lost in the one truly memorable match of the tournament.

some good games on the women's side though: Muguruza v Kerber; Konta v Vekic

As I feared Marin just doesn't have the returning ability to get himself back into a match.  I really felt sorry for him when he broke down.  It must be frustrating for a player when the more nervous and under pressure they get their ability to perform gets worse.  Marin despite being a grand slam champion has chucked away many potential victories against top players.  It's more than just choking or bottling.  When he plays well he can beat any player easily.  On grass he has taken Murray, Federer and Djokovic to five sets and he really should have won all of those.

He will still have plenty of opportunities, and if someone could help him with that anxiety he could easily be a player like Wawrinka in the coming years.

Roger sadly sauntered through this tournament.  Taking advantage as his fiercest rivals fell.  He did what Murray should have done at last years US Open.  Federer now on 19 slams and further emphasises just how great he is by now probably moving out of reach of both Nadal and Djokovic slam wise.

Tomorrow's ranking will see the "Big Four" back at the top of the men's rankings.  The first time that Andy Murray will lead the Big Four. Murray's days at the top seem numbered with Nadal less than 300 points behind.  Federer, Wawrinka and Djokovic should battle it out for the top four seedings come the US Open.  Murray and Nadal should be the top two depending on Cinci and Toronto and if Murray and Djokovic play.

Surely he'll get it and then give serious consideration to retirement soon after. It'll probably happen in New York as well if Murray and Djokovic still aren't back up to speed or don't even compete.

Funny thing was everyone thought he was finished last year. Now there's the expectation he'll dominate and it's Djokovic and Murray – last year's heroes – are the ones being written off. Don't think we can predict what will happen next, but I hope someone new – not Sam Querrey – comes along.
