Wimbledon and the grass court tennis season

Can only hope Murray digs in and improves throughout the tournament like he did at Roland Garros, otherwise I can see him getting turfed out before the semi-finals.

Always thought a good idea for the Grand Slams and to promote the doubles would be to play them over 3 weeks. First week you could have the early rounds of the doubles event along with singles qualifying. Would get more of the big players wanting to enter doubles as a warm up event. T.V. might be interested in the extra week and if not would get an extra weeks gate receipts even if it was at a reduced rate. I know Wimbledon might have an issue with the grass but it would easily work at the other Grand Slams. Would give the doubles better exposure.

Certainly think the main broadcasters should show more doubles to help it along, with the Slams having just about every court covered by TV now there isn't much excuse not to show it.  Although you would gain in gate revenue from the first week, you would certainly have less quality to offer in the final week.  The doubles and mixed doubles are used to fill all the other courts during the second week.  Problem with big players playing more doubles, it tends to mean that they are many more walkovers.

The cracking thing about the BBC coverage (and Eurosport Player) you can watch all the courts.  I always watch more doubles at Wimbledon

The top four seedings are now confirmed for Wimbledon. 1) Murray 2) Djokovic 3) Federer 4) Nadal.  Federer losing out on second spot by ten points, Nadal losing out on second spot by 80 points.  Also the big four will be the top four seeds at a Slam for the first time since Wimbledon 2014.

Ideally you'd want Nadal in your half rather than Federer. One of the big four will more than likely be playing Del Potro in the third round.

There's been a lot of upsets in the earlier rounds at Wimbledon. Even big servers like Karlovic could give anyone problems

Murray has never beaten Nadal on grass after 3 attempts. Fed has a 2-1 lead over Murray on grass. Not sure Nadals game suits Murray he might prefer Federer.

Last meeting was in 2011 where Murray chucked the whole match away after netting a simple volley to go a set and a break up.  The other twice was when Nadal was at his peak on grass winning the title in both years he beat Murray.  You love a head to head stat.  Dustin Brown has won all matches against Nadal on grass.  Who would you pick to win a match played on grass tomorrow?

Since their last meeting on grass - Murray has won more titles(three at Wimbledon and three at Queens) on grass than Nadal has won matches

Stats don't lie mate dont need to get offended. The tv companies look at head to heads all the time especially with the top 4. Don't think the players look too far in the draw they just take each match at a time anyway.

The stats aren't representative of the current form/standard of players though when they go back 6+ years when both were different players.

Fair enough if their world rankings were totally different but the top 4 are still the top 4 dominating most of the grand slams for the last 10 years or so.

I'd suggest a top 5. Stan needs to get some credit

Yeah you are probably right. Think Del Potro could have made it a top 6 if he hadn't had such bad luck with injuries.
