My only question is what stops them getting their License? They need cover for 100. Is it beyond a club in their position to fundraise for a few years in order to build it? What else is Laing Park lacking for Entry (lights not required of course)? It's a new build so surely the changing rooms etc are a bit more modern than other clubs in the region. Everything else is administrative and doing things properly. What is the incentive for any additional local businessmen/women to get involved at Carnoustie Panmure with the message they're putting out? They're a business but seem to have little interest in growing it. There's no need for them to aspire to playing at Arbroath's level in league games but it just seems a bit defeatist to say "ach we'll not bother, we know our level!" Look at Fort William just now, desperate for people to get involved NOW to keep them in the high-profile Highland League before having to accept they need to drop down to the amateurs. I have been to Carnoustie Panmure myself, so I have seen what their ground is like. Thankfully it was good weather, but licensing or not, cover for at least a handful of spectators would be needed there anyway I would say! So I agree with you that there is not really any reason to not get licensed, but I answered to the point made in the post I quoted. What they got in my opinion was certainly not as good as others who have been down that road. For a builder to give them a pitch with such crap drainage in itself was a sin. I know the Ants have been looking at ways of financing some cover for the pavilion side terracing and certainly New Tinto would be far more appealing if the terracing either side of the stand and indeed the stand were covered. Even Perthshire have managed to put enclosures in. I've been asking for minimum ground requirements for years and an adequate covered enclosure is something that should be in place at all Junior grounds - I have to admit to using the Non League Scotland site nowadays to check if grounds have cover for away days in the cup - as at my age I am not getting soaked standing out in the wet for around 2 hours during the winter. The changing rooms are excellent (and even if superbigal is right to get misty eyed about the old pitch, I’m sure he won’t remember the old changing rooms so fondly!) The new ground was built by the old chairman, builder DJ Laing who has indeed starting building on the old park, but I think this land was owned by the council, so the new one was built for the council, not the club. Laing (I believe) proposed putting in a covered section at the new ground, but the council refused to stump up for it. I think ownership of the pitch (and the newly resurfaced Astro training area behind the changing rooms) and maybe even the grassy area across the road have recently been transferred to the community club and it’s affiliated youth and women’s teams etc. Edited April 23, 2018 by Junior_Arab 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
