What are the terms and conditions for joining the 20s league...apart from being a league member?

Being in the Pyramid in the LL or one of the feeders, and having access to a floodlight home ground (not necessarily the senior teams ground) as games are played Friday night.

Lets look at whats happening to a once great feeder grade to both junior and senior football..the under 21 Juvenile leagues...Famous well run clubs like Campsie Black Watch and others going out of existence annually till we only have a handful existing today because the committees are devoted to retaining their communities club...Killed off by the new Acadamies and seniors taking players out of circulation at 9/10/11 /12 etc years old starving the natural paths through schools/boys clubs and so on for the juveniles. True the juniors WERE NOT REALLY INTERESTED IN UNDER 20 TEAMS BECAUSE THE TALENT HAD BEEN SYPHONED OF BY THE SENIORS...That wont change with the pyramid..very soon......the potential players are not available to them.

You almost nailed the point, but missed the target at the end. Oh well.

I’m sure they will all join me in wishing LTHV all the best in their quest for yet another EOS title this afternoon.

Anything that gets rid of the 130 year old closed shop brigade in the Seniors must be a good thing. LL and EoSL should be pushing for chancers like Cowdenbeath etc to face automatic relegation when they come bottom of the league. 2 up 2 down would clear most of them out.

Aye the two league  ten team set up  130 years ago has stood the test of time. Its great how the likes of Linthouse, Abercorn andport Glasgow are still playing in the Senior leagues

To be fair, the only mechanism for getting rid of dead wood up until now has been hanging around and waiting for them to go bust like the three you mentioned did.

http://www.scottish-football-historical-archive.co.nf/sflelections.htm To be fair , looking at this link I would argue thr mechanisms in place for entry to the Scottish leagues were pretty fluid for the vast majority of its history so far. Not sure Cowdenbeath can be described as dead wood either, pretty sure they,ve been bottom of Scottish league only 4 times in about 60 seasons.

Yeah, but twice in consecutive seasons.

The last two unfortunately, which makes them dead wood at the moment regardless of how great they were in the middle of last century.

The old-style re-election process was weird, and some seriously questionable decisions were made back in the day. In more recent decades though, for any club wanting to join the it's been a case of dead man's shoes and waiting for a moribund club to fall off their perch or waiting for a league expansion.

Even the playoff system in place at the moment is a huge improvement on what went before.

They don't half love you on that Cowdenbeath thread (not).

Interesting how the votes went way back in the day.

Linthouse beat Wishaw by 1 point to get senior status and that was pre Motherwell coming into the picture.

No idea what that has got to do with this thread, or indeed what it has got to for with your claim the main Scottish leagues have been a closed shop for  130 years. Looks like you are still in full troll mode.

So are you in the Lowland League?

298 pages so far.  One thing is absolutely certain.  There’ll be a damn site fewer posts in the Juniors section

of this forum next year. Mores the pity.  Or is it?

I wouldn't count on it. Five west superleague clubs were said to be interested in a tier 6 west feeder to the LL not that long back and how that emerges either under the auspices of the SJFA or EoS will be the main issue next season. There are also plenty of clubs in the east that agree with having a pyramid but didn't want to do it through the defection to the EoS route this season. This is the latest from Bo'ness United, for example:

https://www.linlithgowgazette.co.uk/sport/football/bo-ness-united-to-stick-in-junior-football-for-time-being-1-4719195

Chairman Iain Muirhead told the Bo’ness Journal: “We were one of the 99 clubs who responded favourably to the recent questionnaire asking if we would like to quit the juniors  to join the SFA’s Pyramid system. “But I definitely think there should be some way for junior clubs like ourselves to get to the senior ranks without having to go through the East of Scotland League route. “Now Tom Johnston (SJFA secretary) has to go away and hold his EGM and AGM, have discussions with the SFA with a view to taking the proposals forward. “We would be interested in joining the senior ranks. “Now it is up to Tom to say: ‘This is what we think will happen’ and there will be a further discussion.”
