Junior football, what is the future?

Given the number of teams now potentially moving to the EOSL these teams could face a long time trying to get out of the EOSL league because even if they do win the league they could still possibly remain in the same league depending on how they fare against the SOSL winners. Remember only one team can possibly be promoted every season and the season could be finished early.

The Lowland League is proposing to go to two relegation spots from next season at their AGM.  How those two spots are fill will be decided between the EoS and SoS leagues.

That'll be interesting to see how it goes. Equality with a promotion spot for each league champion consolidates the SoS at tier 6.

Or EoS champion promoted automatically,  then SoS champion in a playoff with EoS runners up. Concession for the need for a real WoS feeder.

Unfortunately that's what we are faced with. Currently the loudest voices are influencing negative opinions.

When we entered the super league the proposal was put to supporters and members. Our decision was influenced by that discussion.

Large numbers of our members have no concept of what is being proposed or consequences of staying put.

Without proper discussion we will turn up at AGM and the loud voices will shout down reason.

We have invested £000's on our infrastructure based on progression - we were miles ahead of Kelty. Now they have bypassed us by some distance.

A really can’t understand what the committee are playing at![emoji85]

You may have spent thousands, but according to the Kelty chairman £7 million from Fife Council and business investors have been ploughed into taking Kelty forward. It's not surprising that they have bypassed you by some distance, £7 million would help most junior teams "

Money for the town rather than the team - £7m would take them to the top 3 of the SPFL!

You also begin to see why having two feeders in the East alone is something that makes no sense.

Eventually we'll get to the point of three relegation spots I think, the EoS and WoS Champions promoted, and maybe a play off between the runners-up, perhaps inc the SoS depending how that pans out.

£7million was for the community centre, extension to the school and a 3G pitch, tarmac surround and fence. All other costs on ground improvements, Social clubs, squad etc have come through hard work and investment from sponsors.

Kelty like most other towns had no investment whatsoever up until the Community Centre and extension to the school was done.

The 3G pitch wasn’t even meant to go on CP, it was planned for the trotting track behind the North End of the ground, after finding complications with the ground FC asked us to rip up our pitch and install the 3G, something we weren’t sure about at the time but after we got assurances the surface would be the best available we went for it, if we didn’t it wouldn’t have happened.

Money for the town ?  100/150k from the Kelty community funds signed off by the provost Jim Leishman and they couldn't do the coal race on the gala day because the club got all the money.

Jim Leishman signing off money, behave. Couldn’t do the coal race because of Kelty Hearts nice try in smearing.

Is FC going to help finance a new pitch when eventually it needs replaced ? Just got to look at some ^_^when this is overlooked.

Like most other Council run 3G pitches, theres a secure fund setup with money put aside from bookings per year that goes towards replacing the pitch when its at its end.

Auchmuty High School community astro in Glenrothes has recently been downgraded due to lack of maintenance caused by cuts in funding by Fife Council despite being constantly booked, so it is interesting to know there is a secure fund set up.

I wonder if it only applies to all or just to certain groups.

The Lowland League's catchment area has a population in excess of 3 million in total, so the significance of that should be obvious. If the east and west superleagues are going to be at tier 6 in 2019/20 their winners would probably playoff against the EoSL and SoSL winners for one of the two promotion spots. Until there is a west division involved it makes sense to enable as many of the large junior clubs that are moving to the EoS a chance at promotion given most SoSL clubs for the most part want to stay where they are, if the goal behind adding a second promotion spot is to boost the quality and prestige of the Lowland League.

Thanks for that. IMO It just doesn't appear to be fair to ask a league champion to have to play a runner up from a similar league based on the catchment area.

Well off topic and a valid point tbf, suppose we will have to wait 7 year to find out. I’m sure we will have a plan B and C however to protect us and the community club.

Lets be honest, Kelty played a master stroke by entering the EOSL when they did as there was only one genuine league opponent to challenge for the league and then a SOSL team to get in the LL.  Basically 3  cup finals to get into the LL ( Both games against LTHV and a game v the SOSL champions), the rest have been cannon fodder.

Given the number of teams now potentially moving to the EOSL these teams could face a long time trying to get out of the EOSL league because even if they do win the league they could still possibly remain in the same league depending on how they fare against the SOSL winners. Even the league winners may not move up a league. IMO Bonnyrigg are realistically the only team that could emulate what Kelty have done this season.

Well at the moment Bonnyrigg don't have anywhere to go if they win the East Superleague, so even having half a promotion spot to tier 5 is better than the current situation. And not every team has ambitions of playing in the national leagues - getting an SFA licence or playing in a league with more benefits than the Juniors is more important than promotion.
