Junior football, what is the future?

Having watched the development of the Lowland League and the pyramid from afar over the last five years, I am really excited about next season. I love the passion that people have on both sides of the argument about their local clubs. This tells me that Scottish non-league football has a great future. As others have already posted we experienced all of these issues setting up the pyramid in England but over time everyone has come on board.  All the best to Kelty in their quest for promotion. I think they deserve it for having the courage to be the first to make the jump although I have nothing against LTHV.

Good point, you could argue the details and the facts on the pyramid weren’t passed onto us as clubs which is what happened.

If we had done our research, knew Licencing wouldn’t be available to Junior clubs and the positives of the pyramid then things could have been different.

It would be helpful to all if the SJFA realised and admitted its time is up in its current format and instead of scrabbling around trying to survive as a body in the Pyramid (which appears to be the priority – arse saving in other words), they actually helped the East clubs to integrate fully into the EoS, help set-up a tier 6 WoSFL, help the North (and Tayside) clubs start up a new NoSFL and forge links with the HFL.  The Regional JFA’s could still form part of the administration in all areas eg the WRJFA could morph into the WoSFL.

Then, if there remained a viable number of clubs who wanted to remain Junior, the SJFA continues to administer them just as the Scottish Welfare FA still exist.  However, some people just won’t accept that Junior football is done, the “grade” must be saved.

They had a duty to look at the process and inform clubs properly, instead they poo pood the ideas, sat on their hands and let clubs do research themselves.

The juniors are dead, long live the pyramid.  Bo'ness will be stuck in the doldrums for years now.

All this coming and going regarding teams with ambition and others with no appetite whatsoever echos the same as the Northern League have suffered over the years. They like the Juniors would have been much higher up the pyramid too if they only had not be so bloody stubborn also!

You are absolutely correct, as it would have been far better for the Northern League clubs (at non league tiers 5 & 6) to have been engaged from the outset. It would also have been better for the English pyramid as well, as they have many excellent clubs, some of whom could now be playing against teams in tiers 1 to 3  of the non league pyramid. Just take a look at the progress (and attendances) of South Shields, for example, since they committed to promotion through the pyramid 3 years ago.

You sure?

Last season champs left, this season champs are leaving plus others.

Left behind will be those with no foresight and if at SJFA egm they confirm pyramid thst wont happen overnight.

....and the SJFA could still administer the Scottish Junior FA Cup, for remaining clubs, and possibly open it up by inviting leading Amateur clubs to enter. Providing of course the Rounds were regionalised until the last 8 or 16 club stage.
