Doubt it was as clear cut in 1936 in Glasgow. The RC church in Glasgow was pretty open in it's support of Franco. While many of its parishioners were ILP voters and some went over to Spain to fight against Franco.

Glenconner
Seriously, trying to equate the history of the failed state with any part of Spain is bizarre. You guys ought to get out more. And leave off the orange juice.
LongTimeLurker
Maybe you should simply steer clear of discussions you don't understand? The constitutional crisis in Spain is a clash between notions of top down indivisible state sovereignty on the Madrid side versus bottom up popular sovereignty on the Barcelona side. The DUP guy talked as if his party naturally belonged on the former side, when the history of Ulster Unionism has actually often very much been about the latter.

Probably better use of the money than there will be now it's returning to the "public purse".

A big % would have been going to SF, as their policy is pay only the average wage the rest going into the party coffers, so I'd prefer it to go back into the public purse to be wasted on things other than SF's bank account.

Co.Down Hibee
I always thought when you started to get rid of the hateful fuckers like McGuiness, Robinson, Paisley, Adams and so on a better type of politician would come through... Proved wrong with that so far sadly.
