Cowdenbeath FC. 2017/18 Season

Recommended Posts

Players: Blair Penman, Joe McGovern, Matthew McInally, Shaun Rutherford, Ali Smith, Jack Whittaker, Ben Reilly, Jordan Hornby and Scott Rumsby.

All not offered new contracts.

That allows for a needed change. It’s still only May and I’m guessing everyone would need a holiday after the trials of last season.
It’s great that Gary and the management team is in place and I’ve every confidence in them to put together a strong squad within our budget.
There’s been a bit of a stuttering start to the last 3 seasons and we’ll be in a better starting position this season if the rest of the squad sign up again.
Patience is the key not just now but also when the season begins.

Rumours are cowden in advance talks with a some quality players one ex player being mentioned turning down a return to league 1 and the other apparently when fully fit will be a great addition and knocked back his current club and several league 1 offers.

Not much change but same back 4 and same midfield that played most weeks ?

Looks that way.

McGurn

Mullen - Gilfillan - Pyper - Swann

Midfielders would possibly include Miller, Smith, Buchanan etc.  Key this season will be getting a fully fit David Cox signed up.  He played the last few months of the season with a knock so wasn't as good as we hoped he'd be.

If I was Bollan I'd be looking for a back up keeper, a new starting centre half, experienced centre mid, 2 strikers.  That's on the condition that everybody signs up who was here last season.  I imagine we'll be using the loan market again.  Must be a nightmare trying to sign players with the budget we have!

If you have had a secret lottery win which you have kept to yourself we may have a chance of getting Greg back:lol:  I would imagine he will be on a fortune at Birmingham.

He won’ t get a game. Not sure if Aberdeen want him back. He’s about the same size as Sheerin! and not any faster.

He's still under contract so even if he dosn't get a game he will still be on a handsome wage.

He’s not even close to being that size. He’s came on to a game with Aberdeen and even started the game at Celtic Park. They would probably take him back.

I was there as well Al and he was the best player. Caused problems everytime he was on the ball.

To be fair, the rest were terrible. He was the only 1 trying to play on the deck and make things happen.
