Cowdenbeath FC. 2017/18 Season

Done well today. Buckie are no mugs having won the HL, they seem like a side who will score and concede goals however.

It was a really young Cowden side but they more than held their own and created a lot of chances.

Cammy seems to have come on and looks a lot stronger this season and took his goal well. David Syme is a player I like done well last season and took his 2 goals well today. Credit to young Connolly for a fine individual goal.

Just read that Connelly is 16 years old

Most of our 20s side is very young. Last season they were getting beat in the league by older sides who included over age players. The real test in a 20s side is how much players can get into the top team not how much games you win.

Thought the score flattered Buckie, a lot. A freak goal at the start and there second goal again showed the problems we still have with corners. Davie was flapping at a few as well. We do need a big central defender.

That apart we created so many chances, Robbie should have scored three or four.

Great to see four players in attacking positions second half and creating so many problems for Buckie.

I hope someone recorded our fourth goal. I lost count of the number of players Connelly beat.

Good support for Buckie too.

Like any part time team we need a little luck with injuries but having a new signing with a broken foot after 1st competitive game is a killer. We have very little striking options with him also out.

Heres hoping Billy can get 2 or 3 in soon.

This puts a big burden on the young players, especially as we head for Dundee. On the other hand, it's a big opportunity for the likes of Muirhead, Swann, etc to break through into senior league football.

We are where we are - a lower league side who avoided relegation to the Lowland League by the narrowest of margins. We have a small fanbase and very limited resources - relying on loans from directors to bail us out is unsustainable. Billy Brown will know he needs one or two experienced pros to bring balance to the side, but he'll be competing against clubs with bigger budgets. Loans may be his best bets - Hearts?

Muirhead and Swann show great promise. It's unlucky for Whittaker and the club. I notice that a Dundee Utd player also took a bad ankle knock last night against Buckie.

Is Todorov back at Hearts?
