Bo'ness United 2017/18

Bo'ness win 1-0 FT.
Thought we played better football than Newtongrange and we were worth the 3 points. At 1-0 always a possibility that we could drop points but the boys crept over the finishing line. A nice wee confidence boost ahead of the Hurlford game.

Very good game under those conditions  A thought we just edged it overall  the new boy  Gray looked very good on the ball  MOTM is toss up between Gibby and McCulloch

Yip decent enough game despite the conditions.  If Gray was the No.8 for the B.U then for me he was their best player today. Kept the ball moving and had a good range of passing whilst always making himself available and not afraid to take the ball under pressure.

Despite Nitten not causing the home defence much trouble as they isolated lone striker Hunter, a one goal lead always gives a team a chance of getting back into the game and it was only due to two magnificent blocks from Gibb late on which ensured the 3 points for Bo'ness.

Agree Gibby MOTM today, 3 or 4 brilliant blocks and good tackles over the course of the game.

I'll add to Gibby as MOTM but the whole central spine did well.  Gemmell & Gray did a great job and Mackenzie was doing a good job up front, giving us the forward presence we've missed for so long.

It was a really absorbing game in spite of the horrible weather and Bo'ness played some neat football today.

Results elsewhere also gave us a boost, with the bottom 3 all losing.

We were poor all over the park. Prentice was playing "down the sides" so how can it be a good showing from him. We need to wake up! We are shite. The change of coach isn't going to work. Kegs might be a good coach etc etc etc. But he left us for Glenafton and didn't last long. Then he came back as A McG's assistant, then he left for Arthurliie and didn't last long. Some posters are saying he is getting players from the West Super League. He got Gribben and Nimmo to go to Arthurlie but that doesn't make him a good manager. He is a good coach apparently. But there is a difference!

We are going nowhere under the current set up. - committee and coaching.

If we win next week I'll give them support but if not we need to look what we want and where we are going.

If you could send kegs back to barrhead please....good luck next week, might actually come through...

Yep, some fans are very fickle.  Already you can see there's more to this team than the one AMCG was fielding, even those still playing.

Or not playing in Gibbys case.

Back to the game today - I think if it hadn’t been a cold, wet, blustery day and on a pitch that players seemed to be struggling not to slip all the time, we’d have played even better and come away with a couple more goals.

.............................as for the weather forcast.

It's a dry week this week so the park will have fully dried out and recovered from the effects of all that snow being cleared off it 10 days ago.

Going to be a cold day on Saturday.   Only +2C at KO with a cold wind chill making it feel -3C.  Strong  blustery breeze from the Fisons end will make it a typical March day.

Wrap up warm , get the BU scarf on, buy a pie and bovril and cheer the BU's on to victory.

Keeping a wee eye on the weather forecasts for Saturday. There's now a 50% chance of light snow for KO. Temp is +1C but will feel -5C in the bitter wind from the East.

The pre-season friendly v Hurlford featured Cropley, Comrie, Nyang, Sally and 4 Hamilton youngsters. The BU side today will hopefully give Hurlford more of a challenge.

Up the hill and the snow was just beginning to lie but has now stopped, albeit probably for a short time.  A day for a full enclosure and a bit of noise.
