R1 drawn at the Southern Counties FA AGM last night according to thread on SOSL sub-forum.

Bonnyton Thistle of Kilmarnock have joined SOSL - they're about to complete a new ground which will look similar to New East Peffermill, except with a 3G pitch.

Fleet Star were inactive but played in this season's competition to retain their membership. They have now gone defunct.

Accordingly there are still 19 entrants - 3 SPFL clubs, 2 Lowland and 14 SOSL - and accordingly 3 ties in R1. Dalbeattie and Edusport both received byes.

First Round
Nithsdale Wanderers v Lochmaben
Heston Rovers v Creetown
Dumfries YMCA v Abbey Vale

What do you know about them?

Potentially Good enough for a license you think HJ?

Know next to nothing. Don't seem to run an amateur team currently but large youth set-up all the way to 21s.

Ground's clearly designed for licensing - 100 seat stand, set of turnstiles, etc.

Maybes just what the LL needs in future,an Ayrshire or maybes a Northern Fife side to create an equidistant pyramid geography wise .......

Ayrshire youth team in the LL in 2 or 3 seasons perhaps?

Can you imagine the seething outcry :whistle:lol:

There isn't a junior club in Kilmarnock - and only Hurlford in the wider district - so maybe the potential to eke-out a following.

Ground looks smart. Imagine the ambition will be upward.

With promotion of Edusport, relegation of Preston, entry of Bonnyton and apparently Kelty, things are moving in the pyramid. Just a pity that penalty shoot-out didn't go the other way.

Bonnyton don't seem that they will be able to apply for a license for at least a couple of years (currently they will be using portacabin changing rooms but intend to have a pavilion and stand etc ready by the end of the 2018/19 season) and stated at the AGM that they wanted "to consolidate a place in the league first before considering moving anywhere"!

Bump.

Wigtown make potentially their only appearance of the season tomorrow as they have another go at playing Lochmaben.

LL interest is restricted to Edusport's matchup with Bonnyton... their opponents R2 tie being outstanding see Dalbeattie get a free week.

(BSCG and Cumbernauld are also idle: matchday 24 having been shared between December 2nd and tomorrow depending on whether clubs were participating in EOS Qualifying Cup whose R3 = December 2nd, or Southern Counties Cup whose R3 = tomorrow, according to listings).

Minor shock today sees the Frenchmen exit at the hands of the Ayrshiremen.

Wigtown's scratch XI were blitzed by Lochmaben.

NS-QotS abandoned yesterday due to "icing on the pitch". You can't have your cake and eat it...

Second Round
(Fri) Newton Stewart A-A Queen of the South (abandoned at FT at 1-1)
Edusport 0-1 Bonnyton
St Cuthbert 1-6 Lochmaben
Mid Annandale 4-3 Stranraer
Upper Annandale 1-4 Abbey Vale
Wigtown 1-5 Lochmaben (at Newton Stewart)

Third Round
Dalbeattie Star v Lochar Thistle
Mid Annandale v Heston Rovers
Newton Stewart / Queen of the South v Bonnyton Thistle
Abbey Vale v Lochmaben
