The shinier, improved St. Mirren FC 2017/18 Thread

Aside from the 9 goals, I reckon Reilly has made about another 6 or 7 assists. He certainly got one yesterday, maybe 2 but he didn't know much about Cammy Smith's even if he did do a lot of the hard work for it.

Reilly's workrate is brilliant, doesn't give defenders a minutes peace, his touch to play in Morgan for the 1st goal was fantastic.

Stewart Keane reminds me of a poor man's Gavin Reilly.

I used to love going to meetings in 2005-6 down south and tell them about the Saints forward line of Sutton and Keane Pissed them off when they found out it was John and Stewart and not Chris and Robbie:whistle

And from our glorious leader ...

with two interesting points

1 new strip for Saturday to commemorate our 140th anniversary.

2 and strong rumours that Super Lewis may be signing a new contract (not just from the Chairman's report)

Interesting stuff regarding Morgan. According to someone on BAWA there is a new deal going on the table for Morgan that is very much geared towards him moving on for a relatively modest fee (presumably higher than the 250k that Burton offered)  unless there's several clubs in for him which would be fair enough,  I suppose.

He's a talent that we can never realistically hold. Just hopefully when it does happen we're well recompensed for someone as talented as he is.

A beautiful rumour but I don't get the impression that Morgan's agent(s) are the most forthcoming.

I don't see why we can't put in place an agreement similar to Kenny McLean's and promise him a move should any materialise over a certain value. I'd be looking for over £250,000 as well. Championship clubs down south are coming into even further amounts of ridiculous money with this new TV deal. I'd hope we don't sell him for a pittance.

We are some club now.

If only GLS had been given the opportunity to steer the club after the league cup win.

Ah well. Even if we don't go up this season, I don't think it'll be far away. After the misery of basically every season since we appointed TC, this feels so good.

Two games for Scotland's U21s - two MotM awards - the second against Holland U21s.

Looking by a country mile the best player in the division.

He's strong, fast, skillful, can create and score goals. Also has first class attitude and workrate.

In the current crazy market I'd be astonished (and disappointed) if the figure is anywhere near £250k.

Will be fascinating to watch him vs England. That's a massive, massive game for Lewis and St Mirren. England u-21s are at a very high level (as are the Dutch, in fairness) and a strong performance from Morgan could see him catch the eye of a lot of big clubs. Imagine getting him on a longer deal before that game...

(Just seen it's on at the Riverside in M'boro on a Friday night, just down the road from me. Might try to head down if I can.)

Saints fans, how have the 2 Ross Stewart's been doing for you guys so far?

Outfield Ross Stewart hasn't done much tbh, Jack did say he's one for the future so hopefully he can push on and make the break through.

Keeper Ross Stewart has done ok when given his chance. He will play number 2 to Samson but hasn't done much wrong when he's played... probably needs a run of games but doubt he'll get that this season.

You'll get good value from both of them. I though we would miss outfield Ross more than goalkeeper Ross, we seem to have better striking options this season in Trouten and Shields.

RS the striker has impressed me so far. Has done very well against "lesser" opposition, and any time he's been brought on in the championship he's cause defences problems. With our management teams guidance he will develop into a very accomplished player.

RS the Goalie has been pretty solid. Haven't seen enough of him to make any real judgement yet.

Ross Stewart (forward) has been OK. He's got a lot of work to do in terms of his technique but his positioning is excellent. Seems to come in for a lot of stick though as he's quite unorthodox and looks awkward in his style.

There's plenty of promise there though.

How anyone can give Ross stick is a joke the lad has made a big step up also full time. I see a player in there fans need to give the lad time.

You are aware you're talking about St Mirren fans right? Just about every player has got stick from our support over the piece- McLean, McGinn. Lappin used to get dogs abuse and was actually very decent!
