Credit to Ross for staying. But will he regret not going if say 4 months into next season st mirren are bottom of the prem and hes on the brink of being punted.

That's a position Morton will never be in again and its not because they are any good, its because Morton aren't any good and the stadium is a disgrace that will never pass top league standards.

Cappielow would be fine for the Premiership, as has been proved numerous times on here. Not that it will matter any time soon.

Saints fans won't give a damn, but seems he was interested in the gig but wasn't getting it. The Barnsley version of McG was on their forum throughout saying that a Portuguese guy was their first choice and the press hadn't picked up on it.

Maybe Ross intimated to the board that if it was a choice between the Barnsley offer, and the status quo, Barnsley would have got him, hence the frantic meetings and the new contract offer making him your highest paid manager ever. Whether he'd have taken the Barnsley gig over the increased St Mirren offer, nobody will ever know but seems more than likely his decision was getting made for him and he was happy to receive the extra rewards.

St Mirren won't be that bothered. The fans delighted he stayed, the club covering the costs of the increased contract by increasing the compensation required when he does leave.

It's been a good story to follow, and obviously from an outside point of view, fans of other clubs hoped it would help make the run in a little more interesting.

Perfectly put and to everyone connected to the club it is a boost ahead of one of our hardest remaining games. Feels like we just won a match despite not playing.

So Jack Ross has turned Barnsley down and Wycombe had an approach to speak to their manager and Toshack was interviewed......but this Portuguese boy was definitely the first choice.

The Wycombe manager being approached and Toshack, Ross and the Portuguese guy all being interviewed seems like a robust recruitment process when they wanted a quick appointment and has no bearing on whether or not one of them was first choice.

And who said Ross 'turned them down?'

The same people that say Ross turned us down despite us just dropping interest when our first choice done a u-turn.

It's impressive spin by St Mirren - which gives them a boost on the pitch as well as off it.

You must be ecstatic with the job that the first choice is doing. McCann comes across like an absolute fucking baloon  in post match interviews.

Nope, we and he have been utterly dreadful. Post wasn't intentioned to have a go.

Neither was my reply to be honest. Just an observation of events going on at Dens, with the current squad you have I would expect you to have been doing better.

Can easily see him replacing TW tbh..

You could be correct m8.

Replacing him as the only saints manager in the premier league next season going by your fast declining season. Could be a case of St Mirren up and St Johnstone down  if you's  don't get the finger out.

I'd be surprised if we didn't drop down into this fucking hell hole of a league, tbh.

There's no belief about it. It's what happened. Rightly, or wrongly, we were still pursuing Ross until the point that McCann phoned Nelms saying he'd changed his mind. I'm happy the way it has worked out (Provided we stay up of course) because it's been hilarious watching St Mirren absolutely bitch this league and United.
