Encouraged by stealing Lawrence Shankland from us.

'Stealing' is one word for it... the real world equivalent would be when you've got a shite car so you park it in Greenock with the windows open and the keys in the ignition  :P

4 trialists in pre-season with us, 3 of whom have been named so far either by the club or the press and all appear to be central midfielders:

Ray Grant - released by Norwich, 20 year old holding midfielder, son of Peter Grant

Craig Watson - 22 year old holding mid, released by Hamilton after 11 league appearances in 4 or 5 years

Willy Furtado - 19 year old French Ivorian who played 27 times for Stenhousemuir last season and scored 7 goals from the middle of the park.

Edited to add on Falkirk Wasp's say so:

Connor McManus - 20 year old holding midfielder from Celtic who played a season for Alloa in championship and had an emergency loan at QotS a couple of months ago.

Safe to say Jack knows where we need to strengthen. I like the idea of getting three of the same in to see which is best. Normally our trialists seem to be a total mixed bag of chancers, usually arriving in August when we're shiting ourselves about lack of squad depth.

Honest to f**k, how refreshing is it to have a manager to seems to be seeing the same squad gaps that we all see?

Indeed. Think the lad Furtado is a lot more attacking minded that the other two though and was also used several times on the wing last season. In itself, not a bad thing by any means as Magennis will almost certainly move inside and take up Mallan's old role this season leaving us needing more cover out there if need be.

No idea who the fourth is, hopefully it's Willy's sister Nelly...

We've got to take Willy Furtado just because he has a great name. Surely we can come up with a good song with that!
