Jeez how many or would another/better coach get more out of the players we have? Another problem being a few are on 3 year deals. You'd imagine Avlontis, a cantre half who'd played a Sturm Graz would be decent, but... You'd imagine Struna, with 25 international caps would be decent, but... You'd imagine Sowah, having been less than average at Hamilton Accies...nah, I'll stop there. It could be that Cathro isn't getting the best out of them, and the players are better than they've shown, or it could be that they're just not great players - either way, it looks like Cathro will get to start the season, so an overhaul of the squad is likely - I'd let all of the out of contract players go, and try to negotiate releases with others.
