Afrojim
Andy Halliday has left Rangers to sign for Azerbaijani side FK Qabala on a season long loan. Qabala have qualified for the Europa League group stages the last two seasons so Halliday will likely get a number of European matches under his belt this season. http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/rangers/rangers-midfielder-andy-halliday-seals-loan-move-to-qabala-1-4489322 Terry Taylor has left Aberdeen to sign for Wolves in the English Championship for a fee believed to be around £100,000. The 16 year-old had indicated a couple of days ago that he didn't wish to sign on professional terms with Aberdeen. Taylor, who made his debut for Aberdeen's Under-20 side when he was only 14, had previously played for Scotland at youth level before switching his allegiance to Wales. He still remains eligible to represent Scotland should he choose to reverse his decision in the future. https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/academy/20170629-academy-scholars-inducted/ Updated transfers list below... The 22 year-old said of the move “Nottingham Forest are a massive club steeped in history and they have given me a fantastic opportunity to grow as a footballer amongst a competitive squad and potentially one of the most competitive leagues in world football. It's a big step for me to come down to play in England for a massive club like Forest. This a big development in my career and I know that another league will present a different challenge for me" http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40496109 Jordon Forster completed his move to Cheltenham Town from Hibernian a couple of days ago. Cheltenham manager Gary Johnson said "I'm really pleased that Jordon has come to join us. It's great to have a player with as much experience as him at the age of only 23. Afrojim
22 year-old Hearts midfielder Sam Nicholson has completed his long suspected transfer to Major League Soccer side Minnesota United. Minnesota manager Adrian Heath said of the transfer "It’s not very often that you get the opportunity to bring in a player from Europe, who looks at MLS as a step up. We are delighted to have him and we think he will be a great addition to our squad.” 23 year-old Forfar Athletic midfielder Lewis Milne has signed for Perth SC on a free transfer. Perth SC play in the second tier of Australian football. Milne has suggested that his game was not suited to the direct style of Scottish football and feels that he can enhance his career down under with the "style of play" and "great set-up" that Perth SC has. “I prefer getting on the ball from midfield, so every session I have been in since I’ve been here, we’ve been trying to play between the lines, which really gets the midfielders involved in the game, I like playing an attacking role from midfield, I feel that I can be a threat going forward and create goal scoring opportunities for the boys and also score a few myself from midfield" Updated transfers list below... Afrojim
Former Blackburn Rovers, Derby County and Sheffield United defender Jay McEveley has left Ross County to sign for Tranmere Rovers on a free transfer. The 32 year-old, capped 3 times by Scotland, was contracted to Ross County for another year but cut short his stay in Scotland in favour of a return south. Former Birmingham City and Motherwell defender Fraser Kerr has left Stenhousemuir to sign for Gateshead in the English National League. Kerr was tipped to achieve great things in the game when he signed for Birmingham City at the age of 16. The 24 year-old will be looking to get his career back on track at full-time Gateshead having found himself playing part-time in Scotland at Stenhousemuir and Cowdenbeath. Afrojim
Two Scots have recently signed for Icelandic clubs. Former Hibernian defender Brian McLean has joined IBV in the top division and 24 year-old striker Leighton McIntosh has joined second-tier Selfoss from Peterhead. Interestingly this increases the number of Scots playing in Iceland to 6, which (as far as I know) makes it the second most popular destination for ex-pat Scottish footballers after England. Ex-Huddersfield Town and Dundee United left-back Paul Dixon has signed for English League Two side Grimsby Town. The 30 year-old, who has 3 caps for Scotland, made his debut for Grimsby in their 3-1 win over Chesterfield in League Two on Saturday and is expected to be their first choice left-back throughout the season.
