It's a common complaint from many that not enough money is spent on cycling infrastructure and that's why there's lots of confrontations with other road users. But in lots of areas with purpose built cycle lanes they use the road and pavement. This leads to motorists developing a feck them attitude which is reciprocated and creates a lot of the tensions. Drivers can be arseholes, cyclists can be arseholes, pedestrians can be arseholes. The worst bits are when it is a designated pedestrian/cycleway.
