Interesting that he is still referred to as a defender in Irish football circles.  Absolutely zero evidence that he was ever a goal scorer at any level for anyone.  Ever.

One of the most truly bizarre signings in our recent history.  Especially for a club seeking to be competitive at championship level.

Apparently we're looking at Scott McKenna who was on loan at you guys last season. Any thoughts?

Edit: On the Record website.

Had him for two different spells.

First time we had him in League 1 he was ok but that was pretty much it.

Signed him again in the Championship and apart from being built like a tank he offers nothing. He'll win 9/10 headers he goes for but they will inevitably land at an opponents feet.

His highlights from last season were giving away two perfectly avoidable penalties. One vs Dunfermline and one vs Falkirk. Luckily we had Greg Fleming as a goalie and he rarely lets a penalty go in.

I'd also add he put in probably the worst tackle on John McGinn in the Scottish Cup which got him sent off just as we were coming back into the game. Don't think he played again after that.

Yikes, doesn't sound too promising then. We're in the market for another centre half, going by the article he's well rated but as per, reality is different from what's written in the Record.

He is very clumsy and could give away a penalty at any moment, the first thing he did on his debut was to drop deep when the rest of the defence went to play an offside trap, the last thing he did was to kill John McGinn, everything in the middle was just awful.

Playing in our defence last season was a thankless task. After a few high profile errors and a fall out with manager it's pretty easy to produce a scapegoat. Thought he had some good games but rash mistakes let him down. Still young and learning his trade so errors in positioning or timing can be sorted out. Reckon he'd do well in our league this season.

Wouldn't class him as an championship player

Have we been linked to anyone recently? Is the post not out today?

Aye but no transfer news

Just McCall saying that fans need to create an atmosphere at Somerset and intimidate the other team.
Fans shouldn't be thinking that we've already won the league and be patient when we're not winning as teams will be difficult to break down when they've got 11 men behind the ball.
