Ayr United - 17-18 rumblings and mumblings

Recommended Posts

He looked a little shaky last night, but not worth panicking over, goalkeepers can make mistakes. Jordan Pickford had an absolute howler in one of his first few starts with Sunderland last season, but they kept faith with him and he ended up being their POTY, and was then sold for £30m. What Hart needs is for us to show the same faith in him right now rather than panic buy some other jobber just because they happen to have more 'experience'.

Aye. David Hutton (as a random example) counts as 'experienced' and was our number 1 for a couple of seasons - i'd much rather give a younger guy who has potential a chance rather than go with someone that will never improve. It would be different if he had came accross as a complete bombscare but that's not the case. Fleming made plenty of mistakes as well.

The first thing we have to do is get Crawfords contract extended, he can leave at the end of the year for nowt and he looks like he could be worth more than a development fee over than the coming months, It would be annoying for a player to be at the club from the age of 14 to leave 10 years later for nothing.

Not going to happen I'm sure he signed on with an agreement that if things go well he would be free to move on after the season is over.

McCall basically just saying for the players to keep focused and try and get us through to the last 16 at least or even further.

He says that another big night at Somerset with a big crowd could give him the chance to get another player in, absolute no suggestion of any forthcoming signings, think the budget is gone.

Crawford and most of the other youngsters aren't going to sign beyond more than a season without knowing what league we'll be in. Just seems to be the way that it works in the lower levels.

From what I have heard, from no-one in the club so it may be untrue, Crawford wanted to leave but no one interested would pay the development fee we would ask for, so rather than wait until his 24th birthday, he re-signed.

Being full time and playing to a higher standard than he has been, a team is more likely to pay the value of his development fee that we will no longer be entitled to, which is a kick in the nuts. Similar to the Devlin and Moffat situation, we finally have a player worth money and he can bugger off for free.

Hopefully not picking up an winnings on last nights result......

Excellent post, with the dicks that love to grass up Ayr hanging about on here, he'll be on the receiving end of a 6 game ban in no  time

He was with someone else and on the phone so it's likely it was probably the other guy doing any of the gambling.

Footballers aren't banned from betting shops remember. I may or may not work in one and have had Morton/Ayr/Stranraer players in and even junior players from teams like Auchinleck. These guys like the horses/golf etc just as much as anyone.

That's the sort of thing you post about another teams player.

Not true, as we weren't entitled to a development fee for him. He turned 23 just before the cut off date this year.
