Then voters can vote for the front national without actually, technically, voting for the front national. A vote grab for the terminally stupid and ignorant portion of the electorate. It'll probably work.
Sooky
I suppose it's not even really a risk. She won't lose any votes from it as all FN voters will still vote her, but I don't see people being THAT stupid to suddenly vote for her. So, at worst, nothing will change. DeeTillEhDeh
In many ways Marine Le Pen is worse than her father. He was at least an overt racist. She has done what many parties of the far right have done in the past and toned down the racism of her party - it's still there but hidden away from full sight. Macron may not be everyone's cup of tea but many will hold their noses and vote for him because the altrnative is far far worse.
WILLIEA
The problem for both Macron and Le Pen will be filling ministerial positions should they win. En Marche is a movement not a party and so has nothing to draw on. I suppose he could draw on his old pals in the Socialists but can't see that going down too well. FN has a weak presence in local government ( the traditional recruiting ground for deputies ) which is still dominated by the Socialists and LR. Interesting times! C'est un polémique ! Sooky
What will the likely results of the legislative elections be? If I'm right in thinking, the FN only have 2 MPs due to the run-off. Macron's lot I believe are standing candidates but would they win if they've just got started? The Socialists won't do well. The Republicans will do okay I assume? The worry is that France are merely prolonging Le Pen's coronation.

Melenchon would have been interesting - financial independence from Europe without the racism.

The smaller EU states like the Baltic ones would be shitting themselves at the prospect.

My point was that countries like Greece and France are struggling despite their EU membership, and a reasonable argument could be made that their chances of recovering would be improved with financial independence and control of their own currencies.
