June 8th General Election

State of Scotland. f**k sake, voting Conservatives as if they actually give a f**k about Scotland and as if they would do anything to help people in Scotland, or indeed in any part of the UK, except their rich banker pals etc.
Do people really hate other people who move here from another country so much (a roundabout way of saying immigrants, but I don't like to classify human beings based on them moving somewhere)? Are people so genuinely stupid as to blindly believe the shite they are told? Are folk so stunningly servile and craven that they are desperate to cling on to a long failed 'Union' that, from the very beginning, was a fucking sham anyway? The Conservatives are led by a despicable cuntress and are a gaggle of scum who gosh and blunder around like it's a jolly old fucking jape, and to them it is, as they stroll around burning money with their banker chums, whilst in reality people are suffering and they just don't care. They simply don't care. Add to that vile scum like the old racist Boris Johnston and you have a truly abhorrent shower of shits. And up here we have a moon faced fud who just cries about people daring to have a say in how they govern themselves, but if it benefited her financially would absolutely support independence. c***s.
Labour can get to f**k as well. Aye, folk are wanking over Corbyn, but he still heads a party of absolute b*****ds and liars, most of whom are utter sell outs and just as bad as their Conservative counterparts. This includes Scottish Labour who gladly prance hand in hand with the Conservatives to stop people having the right to have a fair say when it comes to their governance. The Labour party are pretending to like Corbyn, but I bet the vast majority would stab him in the back, side and front (metaphorically) the first chance they got. A fucking hive of shady snake c***s. At least the Conservatives are openly c***s and aren't sell outs; they cling to their disgusting capitalist ideals of fucking the poor and making the gap even bigger, and don't even ashamed about it, the absolute filthy vermin that they are.
The Liberal Democrats are led by a pishy water damaged Captain Scarlet puppet p***k, who to boot is also a homophobe. It's like Gepetto dreamed his dickhead puppet would become a real boy, but ate too much cheese before bed and his dream was warped, and he got Tim Fanny Farron instead. His party can't be trusted as the tuition fees sell out showed. Of course they aren't the first party to lie and do a huge u-turn and sell out, but that won't ever be forgotten and will always stain them. I wish people would apply this logic to the Conservatives and Labour, who have lied much bigger and much more often and pulled off far more u-turns and sold out far more often than the Liberal Democrats. And of course once more we have a group of sell outs in Scotland who tuck themselves in to the back pocket of their Tory masters to oppose independence. Wankers.

All the while shit will be wrecked in the UK. The NHS, transport, local services, the police, the fire service, benefits, welfare and lots more will get fucked and fucked, whilst money is spunked on nuclear weapons, the army, racism and other horrible pish. The banks will probably soon be allowed to invoke prima nocta given how much they've been allowed to shaft us all. People don't have short memories; they have no fucking memories.
Just scunnered with it all. I try to think the best of people, or at least hope the best of them, but I have been becoming more and more convinced that the UK is full of selfish, bitter, stupid, racist arseholes, all of whom are being played by the folk in power and their shady paymasters, and don't realise that they are suffering because of it. If you vote for a kick in the balls, don't be surprised when you get a kick in the balls.
f**k. Yes,. I'm seething, upset etc etc. There are times when that's appropriate, and if you aren't seething, upset etc over this then you need to ask why.

Listening to all the coverage, it's good to hear that they are suggesting that such a slim majority (if the DUP back them) will make it difficult.

I'm surprised that no-one seems to mention the biggest challenge to the majority, which is the fact that Tory backbenchers love a rebellion.

There'll surely be another election shortly.  Even if the DUP aren't quite as big a group of nutter as some of the soundbites make out, greasing up with them is a PR disaster waiting to happen for the tories.

Geoff Aberdein was correct to say that the SNP campaign lacked a 'coherent narrative'. Obviously they still won a majority of Scottish seats, so it wasn't a terrible night - but it was certainly disappointing. Unionist tactical voters got smarter and some SNP 2015 voters leaked to Labour (and the other parties); there is little the SNP could do to prevent the first, but they could have done more to stop the second. There is no need for toys out of the pram, but hopefully a sober debate about what went right and wrong will be forthcoming. Maybe the contest to replace Robertson will give a platform for that sort of conversation to take place.

They got 38 percent of the vote. They're not being wiped out.

Watching the news in Edinburgh there. All young Yes voting Labour voters saying they're getting annoyed with Labour MPs saying this is a win for the union. They voted for Corbyn.

I wish Scottish labour would appreciate this fact.

I wish Scottish labour wasn't a thing as it's like diet Irn Bru.
Kinda want the real thing

The worrying thing for the SNP is that if there's another election this year, a lot of the seats held by the SNP that were safe seats in 2015 are a lot more marginal now, and tactical voting may come in to play.

Look at Falkirk for example. 3rd safest seat in Britain in 2015, now Labour get within 5k of winning it and there's a very sizeable Tory vote. Tory > Labour tactical voting could be a factor there.

North East Fife will go Lib Dem next time with even the tiniest bit of Tory tactical voting.

There aren't a huge amount of very safe SNP seats left

There are also plenty that could easily swing back in favour.

I don't see it.

Remember that a lot of 2015 SNP voters wanted a strong voice for Scotland in WM. They didn't support independence but were happy to vote SNP as they assumed secession was off the question.

Now that the SNP are attempting to impose a divisive second referendum that the people of Scotland don't want, these people are turned off.

Thanks to the capitulation of the Greens- Every supporter of Indeyref2 has coalesced behind one party. The opponents on indeyref2 were distributed across 3 parties. In a reelection. There is only going to be one winner if it comes to tactical voting.

"Divisive second referendum".

Is there a fucking raffle that people get entered into when they use this phrase?

It's almost like some people can't use their own words to make a point.

You don't see it because you don't want to see it.

Look at the results, there were plenty of tight ones that the SNP lost, plenty of tight ones that they won with both Labour and the Tories neck and neck behind. They'll not be helping each other anymore than they already would have.

35 averages out at a pretty decent number. Could've easily been 30, could've easily been 40 plus.

If there's another election this year, there are a huge number of factors to consider, among them:

1 - If the SNP take IndyRef2 off the table for the foreseeable future, that's the Tory and SLab main campaigning strategy fucked.

2 - No one could have realistically seen the Tories having to side with the utter bigots of the DUP. Will that turn off soft Tories and a few tactical voters?

3 - How much of a shambles have the early stages of the Brexit negotiations been?

4 - Will Corbyn still be sticking it to the Tories or will the Blairites have sabotages/weakened him?

It's not as cut and dried as expecting a like for like repeat of this election and the SNP losing all their seats. They WILL however definitely lose more seats unless they find a way to deal with the IndyRef2 question. That's been the single biggest factor by an absolute mile for them in this election.

The thing is the people of Scotland probably won't trust the SNP again.

They attempted to call a divisive second referendum despite the fact that Scotland didn't want one, and even if they take it off the table it's very easy for the Tories and Labour to claim that the SNP will just call one anyway. Elections are about trust every bit as much as they are about policies.

This.

Corbyn did well but didn't win. For all the talk of SNP having to be more radical, they still won a landslide in Scotland. The Tories for all their gains still lost heavily too despite heavy media support.

IMHO, SNP need to argue more firmly on having Indyref2 at the end of the Brexit process which now looks 5 years away but they still need to spell out the benefits of independence - support for which remains steady.
