June 8th General Election

Mudder

On a different note, I wonder how many "big names" will attempt to make a return here? A huge amount of seats changed hands last time both in Scotland & the rUK. Who will try to get back in? A decent chunk of Labour (especially Scottish Labour) were annihilated as were most of the Lib Dems - including then cabinet members.
Danny Alexander? Jim Murphy? Vince Cable? Ed Balls? Will we see the attempted return of any of these?

Cable standing again in Twickenham. Be very surprised if he doesn't take it back.

Should the SNP put up candidates in the North of England?

Or do they only care about the people of Northern Britain who reside within lines drawn on maps hundreds of years ago?

Maybe they should put up candidates in Uganda as well?

That's the "logical" conlcusion of your demented ponderings.

Why don't you offer up the deposit for them and see if they take you up?  It's only a few grand.

Damn maps.  It's not as if the baltics were any different from the rest of the Soviet Union.  What did they need all those damn new lines for?

It's about time the Tories stood in France.  They have to save that country from the possibility of the right-wing ideaology of Le Pen.

(I might not have used a good example in my last sentence8)).

Nicola Sturgeon calling for a progressive alliance again. Either it's accepted by Labour and the SNP can work with Labour and Corbyn's genuine left wing politics or it's rejected by either Labour or by the virulent English media (and electorate) and it's more ammunition for the independence case. Win-win for the SNP IMO.

Don't give the Tories any ideas about launching a war to restore the Angevin Empire.

Is that a yes or a no?

Why would the Tories stand in France? that is a different sovereignty.

Scottish Greens already talking about not standing in the border constituencies in order to help the SNP and rid Scotland of the Tories. Not that it'll make much difference mind, they actually lost their deposits in both last time anyway.

This is a UK wide election for the UK wide government. Nationalists are so narrow-minded and insular.

It's not about society for the SNP it's only about independence. Screw everyone else.

Aye. Just saw that as well. Maybe Labour can follow suit and finally back the right side since they're useless jobbers anyway at this point.

Aye, but they took 900 odd votes in Dumfries and Tweedale where Mundell's majority ended up being 600 odds.

The United Kingdom is a union of nations. Why are you limiting it to just a handful of countries? You're so narrow-minded and insular.

Why impinge on the nationalists in Wales and NI? That would be counter productive. We have heard that there is no opposition to the Tories in England so why not send some down? It might just boost the Nationalist numbers in Westminster too.

Fair enough, I never looked into the numbers themselves. You've kinda got to question the merit of the Scottish Greens standing in any seat at all though if this is their new tactic. They're not going to win any FPTP seats anyway.

Yup. Either get on board or get the f**k out the way.

No prisoners, no fluff, this is a straight choice between perpetual tory rule or self determination. I have no time for anyone that would choose the former.

We get it, you're a clear-sighted, independently minded, free-thinker and the rest of us are deluded sheep.

Bugger off back to your hubbly-bubbly pipe and gies peace.

Correct. Deal with it.

Not a nice attitude when you consider the poverty and social degradation in areas of England. There is an untapped wealth of voters there for the SNP.
