Meaningless Firsts

Couple of weeks ago we beat Ayr 6-2.  Our goal scorers that day were Mallan, Magennis, Morgan, McKenzie, McGinn and Smith (boo).

Has any other team ever had 5 separate goal scorers in one match who's surname begins with the same letter?  Instances of five separate goal scorers in one match will be rare enough in themselves, five separate with their surname starting with the same letter though...?

Any other completely meaningless firsts that your teams have been involved in?

Don't know if it's any sort of "first" but I recall in the early 90's we won a game at Stranraer something like 5-1 and all the scorers were "Thomson". Ceefax (yes, that long ago) showed it as the same player with all five goals but in fact Andy Thomson got 4 while Ian Thomson who was a midfielder had got the other one.

Also against Stranraer we won 6-1 there back in 2007.  All the goals for us were scored by Pat.

5 for Clarke and 1 for Scullion.

Am I right in saying that Dumbarton had 3 players from the same family in their team in the 1980s ? The Coyles.

No. Joe's last game was six months before Owen's debut. But both played with Tommy while at Dumbarton.

Dumbarton were the first Scottish club to win a league title in their centenary year!

Our record of having sealed 3 league titles all at the same ground, which is not our own, and not even against the same team, surely is unique.

Which ground and who are the teams?

Nothing like the same surname initial but when we beat East Stirlingshire 7-1 a few years back we had 7 different scorers. McDonald, Brown, Neill, Gallagher, Oliver, Cusack, Archdeacon.

Probably be a few more examples of the above but it is very unique for us considering how shit we were that season, Shire being the only team worse

Station park, Forfar. First 2 v Forfar, 3rd v Brechin.

And just to add the the detail, 1951, 2002 and 2013.

Worth noting these are the ONLY three titles we've won in 98 years. So not only have we won three titles at the same ground, we've won ALL our titles at the same ground at the opposite end of the country and wasn't even all against the same club!

That's basically the situation which pertains at Broadwood - though I appreciate Cumbernauld Colts becoming the main users of the ground is something which has grown organically over time.

Dundee Wanderers played at Dundee Harp's ground for at least part of 1893-94... I think Ayr Utd may have had occasional forays back to Beresford Park, after the merger of Ayr and Ayr Parkhouse... King's Park played a match at the Duckburn Park, Dunblane in 1921.

We had a 6-1 win over Montrose in 1987. Six scorers -  Rowan Alexander, Dougie Robertson, Iain Clinging, John McNeil, Martin Doak and Jimmy Boag.

Must be unique that the league title was won at the same ground 3 years in a row all by the visiting team.

Peterhead 13/14

Albion Rovers 14/15

East Fife 15/16

All won the league 2 title by beating Clyde at Broadwood

Being pedantic the East Fife game was actually 0-0 but point obviously stands of clinching title at Broadwood.

Remember the Albion game well. Going 2-0 up and our players mocking your support ended up getting well and truly flung back in their faces!

ICT and more notably Barry Wilson, scored the last league goal of 1999 against Clydebank in a 3.30 kick off at the TCS, and the first league goal of 2000 in the first couple of minutes again Livingston at Almondvale. I was of course at both games to witness this moment in history.

SPEIRS Gardner (17 mins), GODFREY Peter (26 mins), McGARVEY Frank (43 mins),FITZPATRICK Tony (52 mins), CLARKE Steve (66 mins), ROONEY Jim (72 mins).

I guess it's not that uncommon.
