It's a pity but I really can't see anyone competing with Celtic and their budget for the forseeable future.

or the new Rangers -  once they start upping their squad with some above average mercenaries.

just be scraps to play for -  with a couple of games in the europa cup to keep those fans clapping happy.

crowds will be on the way down everywhere,   except the 'big'  2

You may be right in the very short term but a combination of high fixed costs, no actual money, glory hunting fanbase and unrealistic expectations should see a slow erosion of any advantage that the blue forces of darkness have by being able to recruit above average mercenaries.

1-At a rough estimate, they need crowds of 30k to break even with a similar wage bill to ours. If they spend the same as us then they may finish 2nd to 10th for a number of years. They would struggle to sell 30k season tickets after a 5th place (say) finish.

2-If they spend double what we do they could have second sewn up. If they finish second regularly, miles behind their chums and with no CL cash then they will lose interest and not sustain big enough crowds to keep spending. Goto 1.

3-If they match Celtic's spending then they keep their fans until admin. Then they die.

4-Dave King. DAVE KING. Fit and proper; convicted fraudster. Haha.

5- You assume that Pedro can recruit, both in terms of ability and finance. Mibbes aye. No evidence of either though.

In summary, your case for excepting two clubs from your forecast of armageddon is thin. Big 2 my hairy ring.

Aberdeen have done "reasonably well" in the last 3 campaigns. Pretty sure we've made a positive contribution to the coefficient every year and never lost a tie to an unseeded team under McInnes. Disappointing exits, Maribor especially, but never humiliated (since McGhee's aberration against Sigma Olomouc).

That isn't true as Kairat Almaty was seeded below us, it was just we took HNK Rijeka who was the seeded team in the 2nd round - HNK Rijeka have only lost 1 home game since we beat them and is 3-0 away result is one of the best in recent times. Kairet Almaty is spending millions on youth development though and have the likes of Arshavin playing for them.

Aberdeen have punched above their weight in Europe though beating FC Groningen and HNK Rijeka. I'm not sure the stat this season in europe but since they changed the system of Europa League only 4 teams had qualified from the 1st round to the group stages.

Maribor game we did very well but didn't get the breaks in either game but we can be proud of how we done.

Well that was an easy game for us as felt we had a tougher game against Motherwell the previous week who was well organised although don't have the talented players that Hearts have. Looking from the outside Hearts didnt look like they was organised against us and they have very little fight so wonder if it is just a matter of time before Cathro gets the sack.

Kenny McLean man of the match again and it really is shocking he is not getting picked for Scotland especially when we have a championship player ahead of him. What I really like about our team these days is they have a bit of arrogance against most teams while working hard for each other. I haven't seen this since the 80's but they need to have this arrogance when playing Celtic and Rangers.

Am hoping Rangers stagnate for a few more years or else another bout of admin comes round.
