Raith Rovers v St Mirren 8th March 2017

Win here would be pretty damn useful.  To go 3 behind Raith with a game in hand would be quite a remarkable turn around from even a month ago.

As has been said, it would be a very St Mirren-ish game to lose though.  We've had a season full of false dawns, if this is another we will be relegated.  The last time we won 2 league games in a row - the second of which was against Raith - we were meant to have turned the corner, then we went on a 7 game winless streak.   We certainly can't afford another run like that.

Keep the same starting 11 that beat Hibs and scared Celtic and we should get something.

1-2

First half we were poor, but did well 2nd half.

Especially pleasing after hearing all the gushing shite on Sportsound about the "saints being back"

Who was that St Mirren fan lording it up about Hardie in the summer?

We need something to turn for us soon or it's 10th place. It's an old cliche but we need a break - a soft penalty, a goal which is miles offside, a goal which didn't actually cross the line - because all the hard work in the world just isn't doing it.

I posted this in the Rovers thread last week. Apparently the throw we got prior to our first goal wasn't our throw, then it was a foul throw. Maybe a hint of offside on it as well. Then the goalie has a huge f**k up for the second.

I have to admit I didn't see this coming at all. Delighted to get three points finally!!

What a relief. 17 games without a win and no clean sheet in 12. The wait is now over. That was the first time we'd managed more than one goal in a league match since the 22nd of October as well. Maybe not a classic, but we got all that mattered.

Big fan of Ryan Hardie proving his point and St. Mirren's 'keeper selling the jerseys after the farce of a week we've had with goalkeepers.

Absolute disaster of a result that, not surprising though.

Wasn't at the game but can't really excuse losing to a team who hadn't won since October playing with a keeper who just met his team mates for the first time today.

That will be any lingering hopes of catching 8th gone then.

Still enjoying the Championship?

Well chuffed. Much improved performance and deserved the win in the end.  Johnston had a good game. And Ryan Hardie what a fucking player I bet st'mirren wish they had a striker of that quality.

St Mirren are fucking shite

In control of the game but doing absolutely nothing with it, their awkward 4-5-1 formation regularly became a 4-6-0 as John Sutton, for no obvious reason, decided to play as a holding midfielder and occasional winger. Passed it around the back aimlessly, got forward and did absolutely nothing with it. Couple of shouts for a pen that I'd need to see again.

Both goals were absolutely disgraceful to concede, especially the assist from yet another gubbins skunk keeper while A.N. Slovakian keeper kept a clean sheet

Hardie scoring both goals was bantz in the st mirren end, they were fucking seething.

Very worrying times, huge game, with momentum behind you and a good few hundred fans making the trip to a midweek game and they put in an abject performance and chuck away two goals.

If they play like that on Saturday we will absolutely bumfuck them.

Well well!

Turgid game, we dragged SM down to our level 1st half, they were slightly the better team. 2nd half was even til Hardie came on, bang 1 nil then in a week where all we have talked about is keepers...theirs gift us the win.

We set up very defensive and while we created next to nothing until goal, St Mirren never made our keeper save one effort, bar a few crosses he had little to do which was good.

According to Brendan Rodgers, Raith are now the 2nd best team in Scotland

Thank you Raith. Pity it was not a draw but stopping the 'revival' in its tracks should put a serious dent in their survival chances. Hopefully Ayrs win over you last week will mean we can both move onwards and upwards. Probably still go down though!!!
