We'll be 1-0 up and cruising, TW will sub off both strikers for defenders and we'll chuck one in. He'll defend it by talking about how much bigger Rangers budget is

A win for the fermers, while we weren't that great we were dealing with most teams. Now it looks like anyone can take us at times and most of the team has lost belief.

Murty needs to keep it simple, two upfront and play Clint and Danny at the back.

I think it's fairly predictable that we'll put in a hugely improved performance on Wednesday night. It's the story of our season.

A win would put us three points behind 3rd place, so nothing less than a victory would be satisfactory. On paper, we should be winning this fairly comfortably. I predict a score draw after we miss numerous gilt-edged chances.

Wright was talking as if all but Davidson could come back into the reckoning for this. The starting team played poorly on Saturday but wasn't weak; the bench was very bare though.

This should have been all set up for a really big game and the chance to go above them. Saturday was one of the most disappointing results in a long time because of what was at stake, so hopefully the players can recover from that and not dwell on it. They aren't in great form by any stretch of the imagination but one home defeat in 37 games is as big a warning as we need.

A back three maybe remains a useful reactionary tool for Saints (as when Rangers visited in December) but hopefully as a starting system it is confined to the same pile where you'd find Scobbie in midfield, Lappin at left back and Brian Graham as a number ten.

Thought Saturday also showed that Alston has a bit to go before being regarded as a central midfielder. You can't be as anonymous as he sometimes is in that area of the park. Let's just stick to what we know on Wednesday as it's been working away from home for a year now.

From Tommy Wright's recent email to season-ticket holders:

'Our home form has been poor compared to away form and this is preventing us from pushing on to try and catch Hearts and Aberdeen and it’s something we have to fix.'

Has he looked at the league table recently?

Think it's petty to pick up on the Hearts/Aberdeen thing in what was a very good and honest email. Glad he tried to explain his thinking from the weekend and that deserves acknowledged.

"We changed the system for the game because we thought that was best with the players we had available plus the fact that we have struggled at home recently. The idea was for the midfielders to run from deeper and cause them problems.

However, unfortunately, individually and collectively we didn’t start the game at all well and didn’t do the basics well.  You cannot win matches if you don’t win your tackles, work harder than the opposition and pass the ball well – none of which we did and combined with the fact that we got caught in possession in our own half on at least half a dozen times led to an exceptionally poor first half showing.

So irrespective of the formation used, we didn’t do basics well – in fact we did the basics very poorly.

The fact that the two goals were totally down to our own failings meant that we could have played badly and still maybe have got a point but the goals ultimately summed our performance – both preventable and both down to us.

The players are hurting and I’m hurting and we want to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible.  The players were called in yesterday and we had an open discussion because it’s not rocket science – our home form has been poor compared to away form and this is preventing us from pushing on to try and catch Hearts and Aberdeen and it’s something we have to fix."

Will be a tough one, we are pretty much in freefall at the moment which doesn't look like ending any time soon. Hopefully Murty plays two up front and none of this Miller out on the wing shite. If we don't start getting results it won't be long until fans start going to the front door and protesting again. I'll go with 2-1 Rangers,

Based on what? Our previous performances at Ibrox and our away form I assume?

Just always when a team needs a win they always seem to get us and we roll over and let them tickle our tummy. That was a brutal performance on Saturday. Having watched the rangers game on Friday, they are playing OK and no way as bad as alot are making out. They will take their chances eventually ( hope it isn't Wednesday) and if they do someone will get a 3 or 4 nil.
Lots of pressure now on TW for the match also after his public declaration on Friday about rangers. All the makings for a cluster f**k from a Saints point of view.
