Can somebody explain to me how Hibs can get Commons on emergency loan (with only another 30 players on their books), but a team with no goalies can't get an emergency loan?

Emergency loan is just the terminology used to describe a type of loan outwith the window - it doesn't actually need to be an emergency, so Hibs were within their rights. Raith were also within their rights to get one but failed to do so not because of the SFA not allowing them, but because they're so incompetent they left it to the last minute, then seemingly pissed about trying to get the game postponed rather than doing all they could do find one before it was too late.

Just how bad is Brennan? No danger of him playing even if he's injured?
Absolutely crazy this is happening. When was the last time a Scottish team started a match without a goalkeeper?

Clyde started with centre half Ian Spittal in goals against Alloa in November 1998. Regular keeper Davie Wylie and his backup Gordon McIntyre were both stuck in a traffic jam and wouldn't have made kickoff. Wylie was listed as a sub and came on at half time, Spittal kept a clean sheet in the first half if I remember right.
