Celtic Development Plans

Recommended Posts

Returned from walking the dog and had spoke to a few Rangers supporting friends on the way. A few were frothing at the mouth his tax money will be spent/invested on they begging tramps? I thanked them for their contribution towards my club and that business rate rise they got will just about cover it. Raging one was and nastily mentioned will all of our history be shown in the Museum? ffs, I smart arsedly replied "yes even the death of your old club will be there".

It won't compete with Sevco's world class casino and hover pitch but good to see Celtic regenerating the area and trying to boost tourism.

It will also have the bonus effect of the ***'s "ripping the heid aff it" and screaming state aid while they struggle to keep the lights on.

It was the chimps facial gesturing that does it.

You know yourself that your pun was dreadful, but probably in a 'funny cos it's true' way. Ya b*****d! ^_^ I think it was a good gif though as that chimps facial expression pretty much sums up how it feels being a Rangers fan just now!

Of all the fine architects in the world and the best they can come up with is a cross between The St Enoch's Centre and The Forge?

That is an eyesore.

Is throwing up a luxury hotel a way to regenerate an area?  I suppose it is changing with the velodrome nearby as well but are there going to be that many people wanting to stay there, outside of football days?  It's not exactly convenient for the city centre and the usual attractions.

I don't know anything about hotels though, I don't even like staying in them.

I thought Vlad's idea of locating a hotel in Gorgie was a bit odd but Parkhead seems even stranger

Still, there's apparently enough people who want to stay in Kilmarnock for Killie to run a hotel, so what do I know?

I can only guess that they expect the Emirates across the road and fans traveling to watch a game to generate enough custom to break even, as no one visiting Glasgow for almost any other reason would look to stay in that area. I'd also be extremely surprised if Celtic own the hotel outright, more likely they will go into it in partnership with someone else. I think one of the major shareholders(Not Dermot Desmond) is involved with IHG or Carlson Rezidor so the chances are it will be linked in there. From Celtic's point of view they will be increasing their presence/marketability and improving the existing megastore/ticket office/museum with something that will likely cost them very little in the long term.

Strange one but not much risk involved and seems to have generated some amount of seethe from others, so probably worth it.

ETA: A quick google search brings up some guy called Chris Trainer as the shareholder who seems to be involved with Radisson (who are part of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group) so I expect he will have a lot to do with this.
