HibeeJibee
According to today's paper the SFA have submitted initial bids for Hampden to stage the Europa League, Supercup or Womens CL final in 2019. Rab B Nesbit
Would be great to have 1 of them on Scottish soil. Super Cup final?
7-2
Obviously the view from the corporate freebee seats is better than the paying punter's.

I wonder if EL might be best chance. Moving the Supercup from Monaco was supposed to be about giving an opportunity to small countries, small stadiums and so on who can't hope to get CL or EL and/or have historically received nothing. To date been Czech Republic, Wales (Cardiff City Stadium), Georgia, Norway (Trondheim not Oslo), Macedonia, Estonia. You can hardly argue Hampden, in Glasgow, in Scotland - hosted CL and EL since millennium and hosting a few games at Euro 2020 - fits that bill. I've actually pondered Easter Road applying on P&B previously. I suppose it depends if UEFA want to start treating Supercup like they do EL and CL i.e. "biggest & best". Obvious concern with Womens CL is almost no-one here watches womens football. Few thousand people rattling around Hampden for X German v X French team might be a worry. Until now they've stuck to Spain, England, Germany, Portugal and Italy and generally drawn 10k to 20k. That said the next 2 are Cardiff - potentially a good barometer - and Kiev so maybe they're getting more adventurous.
Bully Wee Villa
Wouldn't it be awkward to host the Super Cup in Edinburgh ad it'll be the same time as the Festival so there won't be so many hotels available?I'd rather see a diddy country that has no chance of hosting the bigger finals get the Super Cup. Give it to Windsor Park and get the EL or CL Finals in Glasgow.
forameus
Was going to say, Hampden would surely be bigger than what UEFA are now looking for for Super Cup matches. They're happier taking it to smaller stadiums in smaller countries - didn't Cardiff City Stadium host one rather than the Millennium?
lubo_blaha
Looking ahead a few years but if UEFA are looking for smaller ground to host the Super Cup then the SFA should put forward the new Aberdeen stadium for 2023. Would be 40 years since the Dons won it, brand new stadium (may even actually be built by then), good hotel capacity even close by, incredibly close to an international airport, improved corporate facilities, great road access, could get Fergie there to present the trophy etc. Ideal host imo. Georgia and Germany also pulled the EL bids; Hungary their Supercup bid; Czech Republic, Lithuania and Spain their Women CL bids. Poland has settled on Gdansk over Warsaw for the Supercup. Actual bids in quote above. CL between Spain (Atletico Madrid's new ground) and Azerbaikan (Baku). Decisions on September 21st. You wonder what the thinking was here. No-one else has withdrawn more than 1 bid - indeed the only others to withdraw at all were Czech Rep, Georgia, Germany and Lithuania. We made 3 bids and yet withdrew all 3. Alert Mongoose
They must have just realised that Sevco are not likely to appear in any of them.
Bully Wee Villa
Maybe we've withdrawn in a strip because UEFA wouldn't let Celtic and Rangers enter their "Colts" teams.

They'll have slunk out of Hampden and will be working out of broom cupboards at Celtic and Ibrox parks.
