Hurlford 2-2 Beith 18th Feb

Exciting game. Took the home side 30mns to realise the game had started.
Beith were superb, and totally dominated the opening stages.
They won 8 corners, played numerous dangerous balls into the Hurlford goalmouth, but had only one goal to show for their efforts.
An excellent move was finished when Darren Christie shot past Alistair Brown, Ross McPherson rushed in and blasted the ball into the net, not sure if the ball was already over the line.
Hurlford striker Stewart Kean got on the end of a Paul McKenzie cross to get his side an equaliser soon after.
Hurlfords Stuart McColum put his team in front when he ran from the half way line and shot against Beiths goalie Stephen Grindlay, the ball broke to Beith centre back John Sheridan, who admired Stuart's run so much he allowed him to slide the ball into the empty net from 10yds.
Beith had a good shot for a penalty, when a Hurlford defender cleared off the goal line.

Half time Ford 2-1 Beith

Beith got a penalty early in the 2nd half when Mark McLaughlin was sent sprawling on the 6yd line. Beiths excellent Connor McGlinchey sending Alister Brown the wrong way from the spot kick.
No more scoring, but lots more entertainment was on show from 2 very good teams.

Larky, always respect your neutral view mate but I think you are being very kind in your comments about the Ford. We were very lucky to get a point against a far superior side IMO.

Why do think it isn't working this season ? Because they do have a strong squad on paper

Combination of lots of things IMHO. The Mitchells were a big loss. We haven't replaced Rosco Robertson. Gemmell was a big risk that failed spectacularly and a few other signings have not adapted to junior football. A few bad early results seemed to sap our confidence and we've drawn to many games. Hopefully we will stay up and regroup for next season.

First 30mns Hurlford were very poor. Lacking in confidence, and arguing with each other all over the pitch.
If they continue in that vain, they will get relegated.
However they showed true class in scoring both their goals.
2nd half I thought they got a bit closer to Beith, although the visitors will feel disappointed not to have won.
I enjoyed the game, both teams entertained,in what was a difficult day to produce good football.
