Starless by King Crimson.

The Raven that Refused to Sing by Steven Wilson.

Was listening to Bowie in the car the other day - when it got to the chorus in Ashes to Ashes where he sings "strung out in heaven's high hitting an all time low", I was gone. :bairn

Right in the feels. :(

Exiles by King Crimson for me.  R.I.P John Wetton :(

The song was written by Roy Harper, but I think this is the best version.

The kettles on, the sun has gone, another day

She offers me, Tibetan tea, on a flower tray

She's at the door, she wants to score, she really needs to say:

I once loved you a long time ago, you know

Where the winds own forget-me-nots blow, you know

But I couldn't let myself go

Not knowing what on earth there was to know

But I wish that I had, cause it makes me so sad

That I never had one of your children.

Across the room, inside a tomb, a chance is waxed and waned

The night is young, why are we so hung-up, in each others chains

I must take her, I must make her, while the dove domains

See the juice run as she flies

Run my wings under her sighs

As the flames of eternity rise

To lick us with the first born lash of dawn

Oh really my dear, I can't see what we fear

With ourselves, sat here between us

And at the door, we can't say more, than just another day

Without a sound, I turn around, and I walk away

I absolutely love a bit of Pink Floyd, for every occasion.
But the one that gets me right in the feels is Shine on you crazy diamond.
Obviously most folk know who it was written about but even listening to it still, its tragic knowing this piece of genius writing is relating to another legend.

Bit morbid but it only started to happen after i became a father. I cannot listen to any version of knocking on heavens door (including the guns n roses version) without thinking about dunblane and getting a bitty teary.
Prior to having child id think about it and think thats sad but having your own really alters it.

Along similar morbid lines...tears in heaven by Eric Clapton.

f**k knows how he ever managed to perform that song.

Greenie for anyone with a link.

I didn't know how to post videos until now (still not great but link below). Anyone wanting an emotional 8 minutes should watch this wee story about the song.

My daughter is four and I can't let myself think about what that would be like.
