That was a cracking cup tie today against 2 good teams that went at it 100mph and run themselves into the ground, both teams looked well prepared for it! the candy Posted January 7, 2017 Share Posted January 7, 2017 We lost 3-0 to st mungos in the 5th round of the scottish! Firstly no excuses the best team won on the day and deserve to be in the next round but thought we looked sluggish too and looked like missing that edge we have had most of the season, the break definately had an effect on us just unfortunate the scottish tie was first game back although not implying we would have been a give in any other time, But must say how proud of the team we are this just our 3rd season since starting to get to the last 64 is a decent achievement some great ties along the way also! Hopefully the game has blown off some cobwebs and credit to our boys who lost there 27 unbeaten run this week in all games no mean feat regardless what people say about standard. Nizza Posted January 8, 2017 Share Posted January 8, 2017 Letham AFC v Tollcross Thistle finished 3-3.Letham started the brighter and deservedly took the lead after 10mins, shortly after doubling their lead though a cracking left foot volley into top left corner. Tollcross came back into the game pulling one back before ht, through a route one ball from the gk, flick on then Striker finished well.At ht this tie could have gone either way imo, very compeitive game, next goal being massive.Tollcross got the goal about an hour in but we failed to push on.Both sides had a few chances but werent taken. Scores level at 2-2 heading into the 90th min, letham cm then pulled of a cracking half volley from 20yards, fitting to win any tie, but wasnt to be, tollcross straight up the park to force a corner and level it at 3-3. No one really talking about the 2nd division but fir me it's the most competitive league, 2 of 6/7 teams must fancy a push for promotion. Craigie and new farm also beating some decent teams in cups and catrine pushing hurlford all the way and TBH was unlucky not to beat them that day. We take our chances first half we maybe go in 3-4 up. Couple good saves from their keeper to keep it 0-0 and a 1on1 and shot that hit the corner flag almost. Cupar scored a penalty which I believe shouldn't have been given and ex arbroath player and there gaffer walked and calmly placed in the middle of my goal after I committed early. Their 2nd goal we tried to play we usually do and get asked, pass out from the back although a mistake when the ball should have been cleared let the lad in 1on1 and he placed it low to my right. We seemed a bit lethargic at times and as the game wore on we didn't look like troubling the Hearts keeper. Wish them well in the next round and now our focus turns to keeping us in the league albeit we're rooted to the bottom with only 6 games played!
