He made an arse of it and immediately tried to accuse Vettel of doing it deliberately

ETA: Brundle was also desperate to get Vettel to give a place back to Massa despite Massa clearly pushing him off the track.

It was about as clear a push off the track as you'll ever see.

hamilton's "why is this yellow thing not giving his place up for me" was classic Hamilton.

but what the hell have they put in the saubers!!?!?

Hamilton's an idiot, not that the commentators have said one negative about it. All he had to do was stay out of trouble at the start and he'd have been fine. Got lucky that Vettel had to pit too.

Why? He got hit from behind(not much he could have done) plus surely vettel has a lot more to loose?

Hamilton didn't need to win or even finish second. He just needed to avoid their scrap for the first couple of laps, knowing even if Bottas got past him it wouldn't really matter.

Remember the famous quote from Senna? "If you don't go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver". Hamilton isn't the type to drive conservatively, title on the line or not. He wants to win.

A quote which far too many fuckwit drivers have used over the years to justify ridiculous overtaking attempts. Mainly junior formulae drivers rather than those in F1 who, in theory, should have the skills necessary to pull off some of the harder moves.

Bit of an anti-climatic way to win the title but got the job done. His driving since the summer break has, for the most part, been pretty impressive.

If I remember, that quote was when he was trying to justify why he shoved Alain Prost off the track at the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix.

Anyway, you can put me in the camp who thinks that Lewis Hamilton is a great driver but also a massive throbbing bellend of a man, although for some reason some people seem to think you can't be the second one because you are the first one. He deserves the title, by being in the best car and being significantly better than his useless team mate. I'm not being entirely facetious, as he obviously saw the potential in Mercedes early and jumped ship. It's not luck that he's ended up in the best car for the last four years.

Yep, his all-time records will have to be qualified by the fact that he has basically walked from one top-end team to another for the duration of his career. Of course, better drivers have made an absolute arse of handling their career moves - see Alonso, F. - but Hamilton's agent and backroom team certainly deserve a substantial portion of the credit.

There has been some laughable revisionism going on recently about Ferrari somehow having "the best car this season", when that clearly wasn't the case. Mercedes romped the Constructors Championship for a good reason. The pace advantage enjoyed by Mercedes has been whittled down a lot, but several years of having a dominant package has allowed them to eliminate almost all of their reliability problems this season. By taking a big step forward in terms of development, Ferrari and Red Bull-Renault haven't yet been able to do the same with their cars and have been punished with costly failures throughout.

You make a good point about Hamilton and his team managing his career very well. Will he be classed as a great driver? Yes and rightly so. Should he be classed in the same bracket as someone like Schumacher who was not only a great driver but also heavily involved in car development? Not for me.
