Edusport Academy 1-2 Wigtown & Bladnoch
Newton Stewart 6-2 Lochmaben

Dalbeattie, Annan, Queen of the South, Stranraer, and the 14 SOSL clubs - less the 3 eliminated today - go into the R2 draw.

Mathematicians among you will note this only adds up to 15 and I assume this is due to Fleet Star having gone into abeyance before the season started.

Possibly things were allowed to stand after R1 had been drawn, or I did see a claim on the SOSL sub-forum that clubs had to play in this cup to retain their SCFA membership (in which case they may be putting a team together especially or simply intending to scratch)?

No surprise to me, just pointing-out that in theory you could if so desired.

According to the SOSL website Dalbeattie's tie at Annan is now 7:30pm on the Friday night... Should get a decent crowd in with QotS not playing and Annan at Arbroath the next day.

It appears Fleet Star are putting together a 'scratch' XI.

It is indeed a rare event. Two seasons ago, making their debut in the senior echelons, they didn't secure a single win in any competition and indeed only 1 draw (a league game away to Nithsdale Wanderers). Last season they managed 2 league wins - away to Creetown and Heston Rovers - and lost a home Cree Lodge Cup tie to Fleet Star after extra-time, and a home Tweedie Cup tie to Upper Annandale after extra-time, but won away to Newton Stewart in the South Challenge Cup (their best result to date).

This season they'd lost every game before Saturday.

Credit also to Fleet Star's "scratch XI" - only lost 2-1.

According to this the postponed R2 tie Abbey Vale v Queen of the South will try again on Saturday 18th February (R3 day).

http://www.southofscotlandfootballleague.co.uk/LeagueFixtures

That same day R3 ties are Dumfries YMCA v Dalbeattie Star and Threave Rovers v Mid Annandale.

Another R3 tie is Heston Rovers v Wigtown & Bladnoch on Saturday 11th March. By my reckoning that means Creetown must play winner of Abbey v QotS.
