Rovers vs Ayr Utd

Recommended Posts

After our bad I can't really see us getting much from this one. We played okay in the 2nd half against Falkirk but were abysmal is the 1st half. Depending on who is back from injury for this I would start Wardrope.

Fleming

Devlin

Balatoni

McKenna

Meggat

Wardrope/Docherty

Crawford

Cairney

Forrest

Nisbet

Harkins

Hopefully we can't play anywhere near as bad as yesterday again. That was horrendous to watch. I'm putting that down to the weather. Hopefully. Coustrain to start for me ahead of Callaghan. Move Matthews into the middle alongside Jordan Thompson. I also think McManus needs to be rested. Even though he hasn't really done much to deserve a start, I'd play Vaughan over McManus to give McManus a bit of time on the bench. Either that or Skacel but McManus definitely needs dropped.

Also, FFS leave Scott Roberts on the bench. Apart from scoring a screamer against Dumbarton when we were already 2-0 up, he has done f**k all else yet gets the last half hour every week. Waste of a sub.

Hopefully get to see a bit of Osei later on if it goes smoothly as well.

Or realistically ignore everything I've just said, we'll go with the same team as yesterday with the same subs and we'll lose 0-1.

I'd forgotten Gary Harkins played for Ayr. He's usually good for a penalty or free kick against us.

Changes are needed in midfield/upfront. I like Matthews, but he is not a right midfielder and can't offer much going forward. We get away with this when Thomson's playing as he'll tuck in behind him when Thomson goes forward, but it won't work when we've Davidson there as he's a stop gap. Up front, I think it's time to give Vaughan another chance as McManus seems to be resulting in us lumping the ball at him of late. It'll happen when creativity is stifled in midfield, so time to give Coustrain a shot or change the shape a bit.

Given our position and the amount of games left, this is not a "must win".

It is however a game that, on paper, we should be aiming to win. To do that we will have to look a bit more like scoring some goals, however.

This has to be the line-up. Possibly Skacel instead of Vaughan.

I would be right behind this team. Can't see Callachan getting dropped though, unfortunately.
