I fail to see why a professional team can't deal with a sloped pitch: it is something that the management have had plenty of time to figure out for themselves and have lots of time in training to make any adjustments that they think would help. The rest of the conditions mentioned are the same as any relatively big tie being held at a lower league ground, an experience that most of the current side have experienced plenty of times before. It might be a big deal for the fans, but the players shouldn't be fazed at all really.

Yes maybe management could hire a JCB and gouge out half of Parklea so the we could practice on that and get used to the different weight of pass on uphill and downhill frozen/muddy, long/short grass, smooth/bumpy surfaces. Simple really, just like asking Picasso to paint blindfolded with a whitewash brush, he would be fazed at all.

Yep - because a team that has played at Cliftonhill this season, with many of its squad players having also played at a host of crap surfaces at the likes of Brechin and Stranraer just two years ago, would be simply at a loss working out how to play on a surface that is "muddy" or "bumpy".

Try again: or better still, don't bother. .

It's a good playing surface one of best in junior football just not level morton should win with ease but standard of junior football isn't as bad as u think the junior teams don't get many hammerings and linlithgow got to 5th round last year Partick lost to a junior team Auchinleck gave hearts a fright at tynecastle losing 1 nil and we're worthy of a replay and morton did lose to Spartans only 2 yrs ago who are not any better than beith

This is not official this game will not be going a head on Saturday the match ref will call it off tomorrow afternoon The ground is frozen solid in the majority of the parkwith no chance of thawing out I am not long back from the ground so know what is going on

Are temperatures not meant to be going up? Surely there's enough time for it to thaw.

Some one with experience of the park said it would have to be around 7 degrees for the frost to shift It is not going to be that warm tomorrow Most of the park does not get the sun  If the game was on Sunday it might have made it just in no more It was down to at least -5 last night in Beith

Of course if it's off next Saturday as well then we're into the old weekday afternoon territory as Beith don't have floodlights. Indeed I recall that happened the last time they got this far, v Airdrie.

Got told that this afternoon It is to get a lot milder next week Did not think we were to get it so cold this week  Some one I know was heading to Glasgow at 5am ish on wed morning She said it was -4'5 in Beith but only zero in Glasgow  a fair difference

Took a look on the GM forum - and they're getting themselves a bit confused whether it can be next Saturday; whether it can take many Saturdays creating a backlog; etc. For clarity, rules require:

* up to and including R3 a tie uses the following Saturday, whether for a replay or for the first match if it's postponed. However, clubs can mutually agree to decline their right to a second Saturday and go straight to midweek (either of the two midweeks immediately following the first attempt). It's rare for non-league clubs to give-up their right to a Saturday, for obvious reasons.

* from R4 onwards there is no right to a second Saturday. All subsequent attempts go straight to midweek.

* in both cases if the tie is still incomplete - i.e. after one postponement and a draw, or two postponements - all subsequent attempts are midweek, and indeed twice a midweek, on Mondays (or Tuesday if both clubs agree) and Wednesdays

* there are no exceptions for clubs without floodlights or for ties involving long distances

If it was off on Saturday 3rd December then the next attempt would be on Monday 5th December, unless the clubs agreed to Tuesday 6th December*.

*which is unlikely in the case of a first tie because if it ended in a draw the replay would be the following night. It's more common with replays where there can't be another game.

Been looking forward to this since the draw and can't make next Saturday. If it is called off after an inspection tomorrow, fully 24-hours before kick-off without giving it a chance to thaw, it'll at least give me yet another reason to hate John McKendrick.
