obviously thats not about to happen but how does it work for Lithgy must be a bit of a grey area as are Bank o Dee not licensed and get in every year as well? They are not about to join LL and the HL is a closed shop so if they get in surely any other licensed club must

Bit of an own goal from Sky/BBC now they're missing out on the tie of the round. To be fair though, they probably expected Dumbarton to win the replay easily and Dumbarton vs Hibs isn't very exciting at all. That being said, I'd have went with the Hibs game no matter what, seeing as it's the first game as holders in over a century.

As said above they'd want us to join the east if Scotland league and compete with Burntisland shipyard....

Or LTHV Leith Tynecastle and if yer that cocky it'd only be one season then ;)

Clubs  had plenty chances to join the LL.

Not cocky but that would be a waste of time for us seriously. Not a fan of the lowland league at all regardless, but my point is we can no longer do what Lithgy and girvan do to get in the Scottish cup. NDP probably meets the criteria as well tbh

The SFA changed the rules the season after we gained our license.

Girvan got their licence after the rules changed so it appears that it's possible without committing to the pyramid.

The licence only lasts a year so banks o Dee and linlithgow are bound to the pyramid commitment too now. I can't see how newly licenced teams would be forced into the EoS, it's one rule for all.

I stood next to a guy who worked for the SFA licencing committee at a Bonnyrigg game earlier this year, he told me that clubs have to commit to the pyramid but it was open to all clubs to apply. I think he commented that the ground didn't look far off meeting criteria but obviously didn't have his measuring tape out as he was trying to enjoy the football! Lack of female and disabled toilets is the obvious downfall

It's the same thing now - to be an SFA member requires a club license. Of all the members only Newton Stewart lacks one and if they don't achieve it this season they get thrown out.

Linlithgow Rose and Banks o'Dee were almost finished the process when the new clauses came in, and Linlithgow fans have previously described an exemption (not open-ended but apparently without a fixed time limit) via which they can continue renewing their licence.

There are 3 other anomalies - Goslpie, Girvan and Glasgow Uni - although the latter has been reported as having applied for LL more than once. Those were all existing members who obtained a licence to continue their membership.

As well as licensed member clubs, the other way to get into the Scottish Cup is to qualify. Junior clubs can qualify by winning their league or the Junior Cup. Senior clubs in the EOSL or SOSL can qualify by winning their league (only). Amateur clubs can qualify by winning the Amateur Cup (only).

If a Junior wins their league and the Junior Cup no runner-up enters.

Thanks HJ.

Just wasn't sure of where Girvan sat in the process just now.
