East Fife vs Queens Park

Recommended Posts

Took in this match as a neutral.

Despite the Arctic temperatures it was an entertaining afternoon.  I felt East Fife were rather unfortunate to lose, for they lost both goals during spells were they were on top.  But they contributed to their own downfall.  A player on the far post would surely have stopped the first goal, and a pointless challenge by Kyle Wilkie led to a needless penalty-kick.  I did like Insall up front, who never stopped toilng away..

For Queens, the big chap McGeever was solid all match and, even though he squandered a gilt-edged opportunity by dilly-dallying, the Canadian Zanatta held the ball up well up front.

I know all sides do it, but the visitors' time-wasting did irk, and the ref really should have clamped down on the business.

A few pix from the match are here, should you be interested - (Scroll down past the 1999 match report).

Queens should be wearing masks!!!
Two attempts on goal the entire game (one of which was a penalty) and they think it was a deserved win???
QP didn't beat us, we beat ourselves, after bossing the game for most of the first half but doing nothing with our chances we gift them an opener, we claw our way back in just before half time and then more of the same in the 2nd half then we gift them the chance to steal the points and double their goal attempts with an entirely needless penalty, cue 35 minutes of Queens being content to boot it anywhere and blatantly time waste combined with our inability to convert any chance we had made for quite a miserable end to the game for the home fans!!!

Taste those salty tears

As I've said before we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot by gifting teams goals when we are dominating games. I believe Gary can turn things round but we must beat Stenhousemuir away or it will be squeaky bum time. Credit to QP, they created very little but took the 3 points and we only have ourselves to blame.

The Gaffer called it correctly. If we continue to make basic decision-making errors we will continue to be punished. A glance at the goal difference between the various sides in the bottom half of the table tells a story - we compete well in every game, but let ourselves down and invariably end up losing by the odd goal. Queen's Park are really good at getting in front and holding on to their lead through resilient defending.

No use in feeling sorry for ourselves, only hard work and cutting out the silly mistakes will see us pulling clear of the bottom of the league...

About 8-9 hours to late for those sort of comments, good try though Champ!!![emoji6]

Some people have more to their lives than having fingers poised over the keyboard. Champ.

You can't point to bad luck or even bad refereeing for your defeat. Making stupid mistakes and not taking chances is down to East Fife. We made the best of our play and your mistakes. We didn't even need good luck for this one.

A precious 3 points and a much better look in the league table.

The frustrating thing is we are putting so much into every game and competing well only for someone to switch off and it seems we are getting punished for every error. There isn't much between the teams in this league and fine lines win or lose games.Cant fault the players efforts and if they keep giving it their all our luck has to turn some time.We were in a similar position this time last year and most fans including myself were wanting Gary to walk. Confidence will be low but I'm sure Gary and his coaching team will identify what is required to turn our fortunes around. It's frustrating to watch so god knows how the players feel. Just need to train hard on Tuesday and Thursday and go again next week and hope we can get a win to get some confidence back

Sorry for the late reply, just seen this, don't think any EF fan has blamed "bad luck" or "refereeing mistakes" for our defeat to yourselves but all have been unanimous in putting it down to "stupid mistakes" and "not taking chances", so not quite sure what you're trying to say here, unless you're just coming out in agreement with us all!!!

And to be fair you did have good luck even if that luck was just to be playing us when we are in the middle of our current run of form whilst you are in yours!!!

We lost 0-3 at home to Stenie a couple of weeks ago.....that's shite form! We were better on the day and that's about it.
