Stranraer vs Stenhousemuir

Recommended Posts

No one excited for this it seems.

Stenny have been very hit or miss recently, sometimes they play well, sometimes they don't. Need to bounce back after the loss to Alloa.

Going for a 2-1 win for stenny with McMenamin and Gilhaney scoring.

Hit or miss would some up our season thus far too.

Last five games have presented us with opponents placed fifth or lower so, on paper favourable fixtures ,but we've really failed to capitalise which has turned this in to a must win. Lose on Saturday Stenny are left with a game in had and the chance to send up bottom of the league at some point.

Nobody in the side scoring consistently so hard to see where a goal is coming from. I'll be optimistic for a change and call 1-0 Stranraer.

Stranraer deserved to win and always looked the better of the two teams. First half we were on top without playing great - Bell sneaked in at the back post to put us ahead but we let Stenny back into it just before HT - good finish though. Second half mostly Stranraer on the ascendency but starting to look at little nervy the longer it remained at 1-1. To be expected given we ain't exactly on a great run and this was a game we really ought to win and being honest had to win. However Nuttall did well to set Ryan Thomson up and he finished well. Then we finally managed to get Nuttall in behind their defence and he finished the match with a composed finish. Belford had a cracking save near the end to stop Stenny getting a second goal.

Nuttall got the man of the match award and I thought he showed some promise. I would have probably went for Bell as MOM but won't do the youngsters confidence any harm. He has certainly added some much needed pace to our forward line. Dick had another steady and solid performance and McGuigan did decent enough down the right. At the moment its hard to see Stenny avoiding relegation but hey things may change if they get a few better players in. Important that Stranraer build on this performance - we ain't great but we are a fair bit better than some were suggesting last few weeks. At the moment don't see relegation being an issue but need to do a little more to harbour hopes of sneaking into top 4 again.

Good to see a number of the famous 1996 side in attendance - just a pity we didn't manage to turn this into the special day which it could have been.

3-1 stranraer.. malcolm.nuttall and thomson to score. There were signs of fight and belief at rovers last week. Very unfortunate not to take something from the game mainly due to bad luck and awful refereeing.

Not far off!
