Next Scotland manager.

I wish people would stop trying to rewrite history by defending Vogts. In his first campaign we lost to Lithuania and drew the Faroe Islands. In his second campaign he was sacked after drawing at home against Slovenia, losing at home against Norway, and drawing at Moldova.

He capped a stunning array of mediocre players while somehow actually managing to overlook many of the players who would go onto be such an important part of the Smith/McLeish era. You could credit him with bringing in Faddy and Fletcher, except he actually resisted calls to bring them in for quite a while. Faddy has already moved to Everton by the time that Vogts really trusted him.

He was a disaster.

Entirely this. The reason we made the play offs was that we were drawn in a spectacularly bad group. Germany were transitional / dire, Iceland were still poor Lithuania were worse than they are now plus the candlestick makers n binmen from faroes. In addition to losing to Lithuania away n drawing with faroes we were grim awful at home v Lithuania n barely scraped the win.

Having been stung by GS and his seemingly stubborn dislike for some players, and love of others, maybe a management team might work.

No-one will come from EPL to manage Scotland I wouldn't think, although moyes might not have a choice if Sunderland do the wrong thing and fk him off after half a season.

What does Walter Smith do these days?

Derek McInnes wouldn't be a bad shout, manages to get his Aberdeen side performing well every season, has won a trophy and has got AFC to another final and he also had some good Europa League results: 3-0 against Rijeka, 3-0 against Ventspils, 2-1 against FC Groningen and 1-1 against NK Maribor. Knows how to get the best out of a limited team a la SJFC and his Aberdeen side.

He's also had some shameful European defeats. And winning one trophy is hardly a great achievement considering there has been no Rangers for the entirety of the time he has been at Aberdeen, and when you look at the numerous other diddy clubs that have won a trophy during the last few years. Winning a trophy doesn't meanbyou are a good manager, just look at Alan Stubbs.

He has done okay at Aberdeen, but he has done absolutely nothing to merit being given the Scotland job. Everything about him screams Craig Levein mark II to me. Initial relative success in Scotland, gets a move down south to a financially stricken club and fails, gets a move back up to Scotland where he's in his comfort zone and proceeds to do okay, then gets touted for the Scotland job.. Sounds familier..
