Staying at hotel Diplomat on arrival and hotel Orchid near the airport (oh dear!) on the way back. Family members have stayed at the Orchid and said it was good enough for one night before coming home.

Orchid hotel isn't too bad (despite the location right next to the domestic airport). Also doesn't cost an arm & a leg like the international hotels (Leela, Interconuntal, Sheraton etc. next to the international terminal).

Nice rooftop bar/restaurant with good views. Acouple of years since I was last there so no idea if gone downhill or not.

Cheers for that. Family stayed in the Orchid last year and were happy enough with it. It's more just for a stop over before flying home hence the location near the airport. We intend to have done other sightseeing etc when we have the two night stay over in the Diplomat at the start of the holiday.

Just back. Mumbai was mental but enjoyable. Diplomat hotel just behind the Taj hotel was very poor but good location. Afternoon Tea at the Taj was lovely and we had our drinks free of charge. Good pub next to our hotel was the Social. Great street food etc. The Orchid hotel was great. Loved the rooftop pool and snacks with great view of the airport. We were only there for a stopover on the way home after 3 weeks and it's was lovely. Stayed in Green Park area of Palolem Beach in South Goa. Just do good. It was like having our private beach and bar/restaurant 10 feet from our beach hut. Hope to go back again next year. Also, flew with Emirates. Excellent airline.
