Redirected to virus type site

Salvo Montalbano

Question

Hi guys,

Every now and again, when I move onto a new page of a thread or onto a new forum or whatever, instead of going to the requested page I'm being redirected to a page that looks like one of those virus pages where you can't go back or it wants you to download something because the phone is infected or whatever. I only ever seem to have this issue on P&B and not any other website, and it's a fairly new phone that hasn't been rooted, had any dodgy programs installed or been used for any porn or any other dodgy reasons. What's going on here and should I be worried about it?

Hopefully somebody still reads this forum as there seems to be quite a few users with various issues since the move to the new site.

I'm considering our options with regard advertising on the mobile. It doesn't generate much of a return, and it's a pain in the arse.

And I consider mobiles pains in the arses.

Yeah this happened to me today too. Then redirects to play store to download whatever it is it wants you to download.

Something similar has been happening to me on my iPhone but not my iPad.

I'm not sure if the Mods are too busy doing other things (is tagging @Div the best way of going about this?) but this is still happening 4 months or so after my original post - is this getting investigated at all? It's not causing my any serious issues (I have a virus checker etc on my phone) but I don't know if anyone would accidently click on something rather than just shut down their browser and restart so wondered what was happening. I grabbed a wee screenshot if that helps the mods track down the code that's causing it?

Just happened again on the Andy Murray thread. Used Chrome all day on about 15 other sites and not had it happen until P&B. Definitely seems to be an ad that this site is running. Does anyone from the mods check the ads that get accepted here? They're not very well targeted compared to ads on other sites I use.

Do you have a Showbox app downloaded on your phone? I was getting the virus adware that said my phone's infected and to download an app to fix it. Took me ages to figure out the malicious adware had come from my Showbox app. After I deleted it I never had anymore issues.

Yep, same as me NBB. I tried the app but I wasn't enjoying the experience as much, to use the wanky Web management speak. I'm not getting these appear on any other website and I use Chrome on my phone a lot - BBC, Sky Sports, US and Italian news sites, Other Dunfermline forums, Wikitravel, bank website, et al. I never get any redirects to another site on any of these websites? It's only ever on P&B.
