Hertha/BJFC1938 Posted October 21, 2016 Share Posted October 21, 2016 Viewfield rovers were an excellent amateur team for years and probably the best in Scotland for years and they came close numerous times before they eventually won the SCOTTISH cup . Mr turner and his son were firmly at the heartbeat down in lochwinnoch during this amazing time and I'm sure most of the great team were from the nitshill area , the ground and over all setup would have put loads of junior teams to Shame back then , was quite saddened a few months ago to pass by the ground and the whole placed looked very tired and run down , excellent news to hear of things improving now though . When people talk about big amateur names of the past and present its always Knockentiber , Hurlford , Clark drive , heathside, shortlees , colville park, bannockburn etc ,make no doubt about it viewfield rovers ( in the 90s I think ) were as good as anyone with a setup and ground that is rarely seen at this level .
