Gordopolis
As I see it, the subtext to this confused debate is that English players get hyped to feck by the English media, just as Scottish players do by the Scottish media and are thus more likely to bag a bigger wage in their native countries? Booker-T
i think UEFA homegrown status, rather than a players declared nationality, is the most important geographical consideration when it comes to transfer value and remuneration.

Gordopolis
Back in the Scotland youth squads: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/celtic-kid-sensation-karamoko-dembele-9825769 We might as well just relax, let the lad play and find his own way in the game. If he turns out to be good enough, he'll pick his country 4, 5 years from now. Until then, good on him for exploring all the options.

Paparazzi outside his house, the works. Either he picks us, now, or his windows get the Hugh Dallas treatment.

You're basically trying to ruin his international career whilst he is still in his teenage years. Have a word with yourself. Gordopolis
Genuine question: not that I'm advocating doing it, but can a player be capped before they're 16?

Get them trapped. Some are bound to turn out to be good so a worthwhile exercise just in case, imo.
RandomGuy.
Ah, so there's no lower limit? Not at International level, by the looks of things. Although there seems to be a general consensus that 16 is the very minimum, except of course sensational talents. Fairly sure most leagues have minimum age rules though. Salvo Montalbano
Wasn't Tim Cahill capped by Samoa or something at about 14 before he later went onto okay for Australia as FIFA said he'd been capped too young and for a country that had no prospect for his development? Something rings a bell anyway.
