The Naitch
The Paralympics gets started tonight with coverage of the opening ceremony. London 2012 was a lot of fun so expecting more of the same this time around.

Sooky
It would appear that our Paralympic track cyclers are just about as dominant!4 of them in gold medal races tonight (2 of them going against one another)
Sooky
Wheelchair basketball is usually pretty good Wheelchair rugby, from what I recall, seems fairly terrifying.

Sooky
4 golds and a silver in roughly an hour. Not a bad start.
Sooky
I see we're actually traditionally really strong at the Paralympics. 2nd in the medal table from 2000-2008 and 3rd in London (behind Russia who pretty much doubled their golds from 2008, I wonder why?). China have ran away with the medal table for the last few games. So I'm assuming 2nd place is probably the target.
LincolnHearts
How do they work out the grading of paralympians when it's not obvious like sight issues or missing limbs etc? Just watched the 100m women's backstroke for the 'Intellectually Impaired' which was won by a British lassie in a WR time. You wouldn't know she was a paralympian if she wasn't at the games. Came across very well and composed when she was interviewed afterwards. -
Salvo Montalbano
The intellectually challenged categories were suspended for many years after the Spanish basketball team had players who weren't and so basically cheated to win gold. It's probably the hardest one to categorise and remains controversial.

tamthebam
Thanks for clearing that up. Lad's doing well for himself- worth thinking about next time some overpampered footballer pulls out of a match due to a hammy or something.
Forest_Fifer
He must have a siar heid. That's what I thought. Dunno if he had padding in his cap.
