East Fife v Stranraer

Recommended Posts

The first meeting of the teams since a 1-1 draw at the same venue in April 2014 - many changes at both clubs since then.

Looking forward to it - if for no other reason than it's a change - oh, and the pies have always been decent.

Think this will be genuinely interesting for fans of both clubs to gauge where they stand - us, with a couple of narrow wins under our belt, after a very poor start.

Be disappointed if we can't follow up are last two results with something positive this weekend.

Don't know too much about this East Fife team. On paper looks like they've made a couple of good loan signings and have always been impressed with Mark Lamont.

Talk of us adding another forward before Saturday but can't see them dislodging Malcolm and McGuigan. Would go with the same starting line up that faced Dumbarton. G

Go for a 2-1 Stranraer.

Well deserved win, so good to have Jamie back, two goals today and actually had the ball in the net 4 (four) times have to see them again to see if they were both offside, didn't actually see the first one and thought the second was borderline, anyway a win, a clean sheet, Jamie's of the mark and we're up to 4th (fourth), saulgoodman!!!

Felt we weathered an early storm by Stranraer who tried to upset us with high balls and corners into the six yard box. We gradually worked our win into the game and Jamie Insall was a constant threat with his pace and never gave the Stranraer defenders a minutes peace. After the goal we too a grip of the game till half time. Second half we defended deep but hit on the break when Kyle played Jamie in to lob the keeper. To be fair Stranraer then had a pot of possession but rarely threatened our goal.

Positives today - thought Kano and Pagey dealt very well with the physical presence of McGuigan & Malcolm and latterly Nade. Mercer looked a bit more like himself and Wilkie was back to the player we saw last season. Slattery put in a good shift on his first game back. Hopefully Robinson recovers quickly because he has a great engine and can really influence the game. Jamie Insall looked really sharp and strong and took his goals brilliantly.

think we will witness many tough games similar to today this season but I'll take the same outcome every home game. Mon the Fife

Not surprised at all , we have been dreadful this season , only 1 win so far and that game v Peterhead we were very lucky and only scraped a win thanks to our keeper having a MOM performance .

we have decent players but they play as 11 individuals and unable to play the fast passing game that was so successful pre Mr Reid , we tend to thump hopeful high balls up to our front men which doesn't work and the signing of Nade seems to encourage this sort of play .our signing policy really needs looking at as we have made some very poor signings , add to this guys like Gibson that you get 1 game in 3 where he looks half interested , Agnew is a shadow of his old self but then I knew that when I first heard we were interested in him but obviously Stranraer FC didn't . Kemp for me was a player with huge potential but how many 90 mins did he get before off loading him in favour of a Nade type player.

so we have players struggling with fitness, players off form but still getting played, players played out of position and poor signings, so we are where we are ...
