Yes, this would be fine.  It has to be a deliberate pass back to the keeper.

It wasn't a poor clearance, it was an intentional pass from the first defender that was meant to go to the player it did go to; the second defender. The only issue is that I'm quite sure the first defender's intention was not for the second defender to chest it back to the goalkeeper. 

That's also fine.  Unless the first player clearly intended for the second player to do that, it's fine.

Thanks for clearing that up. Means there’s a bit of a grey area in that law then, there might not be an awful lot to be gained for the defending team apart from time-wasting but teeing it up for a teammate to head/chest/knee/shin it back to the goalkeeper could be disguised as a lobbed pass such as the one we’ve been talking about.
